ICC Makes UDRS Mandatory

The ICC has at last taken a sensible decision in ages!. the Umpire's Decision Review System has been made mandatory with some modifications.
Hotspot has been made mandatory, while the ball tracking technology has been made optional, to be decided between the teams involved. The system has also been extended to ODIs as well, with just one unsuccessful review being permitted.

Making hotspot mandatory is a very sensible call. hopefully, all available technology wil be put to use by most if not all teams. Also there should be more investment in R and D on more of precise ball tracking technology.
Marginal LBW calls may still be out of the range of the modified system, but at least the absolute howlers can now be addressed, by all teams, not just a few. for more

Absolutely fantastic news!! India may have a sulk about this but it is for the good of the sport.

Thank God for that. The ICC have manned up and stopped listening to the Indian Cricket board and made it compulsory. This is a major change in cricket, and definitely for the better.

About time too, it should ensure a higher standard of umpiring all round, they've also decided to abolish runners in international cricket, a bad idea IMO, the umpires should just be a bit more strict when allowing them.

And two new balls per innings - one from each end - would be used in one-day internationals from 1 October.

Thye do not blame themselves and their big heartedness that dropped 4 catches.

India got DRS altered to how they wanted it.

India the big winner, as the saying goes, Cash is King and BCCI are the Kings.

ridiclous, you either have all the technology or nothing.

I think it's a step in the right direction. It's a pity Hawk-eye won't be used (unless both teams agree) as it saved a lot more controversey than it has caused. Be interesting to see how lbws are refered now. I take it there will be just be a second opinion from a 3rd umpire?
