Gym work v actual on field rugby practice
I noticed the talk from Richard Webster claiming that his Welsh u20's were physically as good as any....but couldnt cope in rugby terms. Several years back Austin Healy claimed there were too many gym bunnies....
I think the Irish guys are really getting it right in that department...with Ferris and O'brien etc physically awesome yet seriously top drawer rugby players.
So what do you think. Do we in the NH pay too much attention to the physical aspects of the gym....and pushing weights rather than actual on field rugby excellence on the training field?

Re: Gym work v actual on field rugby practice
the Irish poor preformance at the last world cup was due to our lads spending too much time working in the gym, wrapped in cotton wool, instead of getting game time and working on their game. if you look this time round we are doing the opposite, we have four warm up games against top opposition to build up game time together against good opposition!

This is the problem with Wales, all gym work no set moves, line outs are a disaster, lets go left until we hit the touch line lets go right etc also Wales often lose the contact area and there is no plan B. Other than that listed we have good players with some depth but the coaching is one dimensional.
