Is Ziggler the Champion?

The WWE website is questioning whether Edge is still the World Heavyweight Champion following last night's episode of SmackDown!.

The "Rated R Superstar" retained the belt over Dolph Ziggler after Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews replaced Vickie Guerrero as the bout's Special Guest Referee and made the three-count.

WWE.com published an article concerning Matthews' involvement with the match, which teases controversy.

"And although Matthews wouldn't divulge who gave him the authority to be a WWE Official, the WWE Universe is left to wonder if Edge is still the World Heavyweight Champion and if Matthews’ power as a WWE Official ultimately supersedes that of an angry "acting" SmackDown General Manager in Vickie Guerrero."

The match featured a stipulation where Ziggler would automatically become the new World Heavyweight Champion if Edge attempted to use the Spear against his opponent. Edge hit the banned Spear on Ziggler two separate times during the closing moments of the match.

There is only one way out for Edge to retain the belt, Teddy Long.
Im half expecting Teddy to return next week, state that he authorised Matthews to be referee and reveal that it was in fact Ziggler who attacked Teddy so that Vicki G could fix it for Ziggler to try and win in his absence from the show.

Dolph Ziggler is playing up the World Heavyweight Title controversy on his Twitter. He wrote the following two messages on Saturday afternoon:

"Last night was a success! Kent State won the MAC Conference & I won the World Heavyweight Championship! Best Dolph Ziggler Day EVER!

Lubbock, Texas tonight! Come for the NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! (I may wear the title with nothing underneath, who's gonna know?)"

No word yet if Ziggler was in possession of the World Title belt at last night's WWE live event.



i hope he is edge doesn't need the title

If Zigger is deemed to be champion, Edge will get it back at EC to face Del Rio at mania

Dear God, that means if he does it's yet another cheap title win!
That'd put him on 11 world titles in just over 5 years.

anyone else seeing a fatal 4 way happening at wm? dolph vs edge vs del rio vs barrett ( needs a match at wm)

I can see the Smackdown main event being either a straight singles match or else possibly Ziggler/Mysterio/Barrett being involved. Mysterio is likely to be put against Rhodes but I can see Barrett being shunted into some angle with Jackson and Big Show. That way the title match stays a one-on-one which seems to be preferred at 'Mania.
