Falling Skies
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falling_Skies
Anyone going to be watching Falling Skies on FX channel starting 5th July?
Quick overview:
Falling Skies tells the story of the aftermath of an alien invasion that not only neutralizes the world's power grid and technology, but also destroys the combined militaries of all the world's countries in a short amount of time. It is alluded that over 90% of the human population is killed within a few days. The story picks up six months after the invasion, and follows a group of survivors who must band together in order to fight back. The group, known as the Second Massachusetts (an allusion to a Boston militia in the American Revolutionary War), is now led by the retired Captain Weaver and Boston University history professor Tom Mason who, while in search of his son Ben, must put his extensive knowledge of military history into practice as one of the leaders of the resistance movement.
The fact Steven Spielberg's name is on it should mean could Special effects for a tv series.

Re: Falling Skies
Just watched the 1st episode quite liked it, it will need time to develope and sort itself out but I will try and stay with it.
I think in war if you are outgunned and outnumbered all you can do is hit and run or just survive so being a military history professor dosen't really help, yes he will have an understanding of tactics but the humans will be limited in what they can achieve, not unless they can find a weakness of the aliens but give it time I think it will be fine.

Re: Falling Skies
I thought the premier was ok but i think we only got half of it other here, in the states i think they got a two hour opening.
It did seem to end without any real cliffhangers which you come to expect with American shows.

Re: Falling Skies
Well after seeing the first two episodes now, I certainly think the series has alot of potential from the characters they have developed but I would have preferred a little more action early on to grab my attention to be honest.
Hopefully that'll happen over the next few episodes now....

So has folk been keeping up with this, just watched the sixth episode of season 2, i believe it's maybe a month behind here in the UK. I don't think it's amazing but i do enjoy it enough to stick with it.

Re: Falling Skies
I agree with you both. I feel its ok and will stick with it but as KK7H as said better shows (i enjoyed) have not been renewed for a 2nd season.
I include Flash forward and Invasion.

Re: Falling Skies
I'm finding the second series better than the first. Seems like they are working with a bigger budget.

Following the news they had from the pilot, they now know that there are others to join up with as they head south.

Re: Falling Skies
No just pure hit and run tactics, once they get to Charlestown lets hope they have an idea. What episode is it on here, just watched episode 7 last night.

Yeah i'm sure the lady in the plane was only two episodes ago for me. It's on a break for two weeks so Britain should only be a week behind when it comes back.

Re: Falling Skies
Some of the characters aren't very good, or the actors who play them i should say. My favourite character is probably Hal, didn't like him at first but do now.

Re: Falling Skies
I liked the cute blonde until she got grabbed by the aliens and became their mouthpiece.
Was hoping she would come back, but given the timescales, wouldn't she be completely skitterised by now? I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking things.
I liked Jimmy but he got splattered.

Enjoyed the end of the 2nd series and as usual finished on a cliffhanger.
Anyone know when the 3rd series will start or if they are getting cancelled like anything else I start watching
