Blues to take legal action against Wasps
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/rugbynation/rugby-news/2011/06/30/cardiff-blues-consider-legal-action-over-dai-young-s-move-to-wasps-91466-28966928/
Some rather damning comments from Peter Thomas there, saying he will consider taking legal action against Dai and Wasps if no compensation is paid for Dai's early departure.
Surely Wasps cant get away without paying? PT cites precident in the article, they have paid compensation for player release and been paid compensation for player release, so why should Youngs departure be any different?

You should change the title of your article. 'Blues to take legal action' is very different to 'Blues consider legal action.'

I think they have a fair point. He is still in contract and it would be a bit off for Wasps to announce him without paying any compensation. This is one of the worst things about the pro game. All the contract stuff.

Their just haggling over price no big deal to be honest.
Everything will be sensationalised in the off season because there is nothing new to talk about.

I'd imagine it is just the two clubs haggling over the price - Blues are threatening to take legal action to show they didn't want to let him go and pressure for an early settlement. Wasps will be coming out with arguments as to why the compensation should be minimal instead - it is the same act that football clubs go through when a manager changes clubs while under contract.
Still don't get why Wasps have gone for him - they're supposed to be short of money so it makes no sense to pick someone under contract... and even less so given how Young has done with the Blues who seem to punch below their weight under his control.

If he handed in his notice this morning and took the job at dinner time then surely there is no need for compensation. After all if us commoners jack in our job in order to take up a new one there is no fuss. But i guess it comes down to what amount of 'notice' he needs to provide.

Sports institutions are different from normal employers. Dai had a contract with the Blues to work for them.
Can you imagine Gareth Bale Resigning with Tottenham and taking a job with Manchester United?
Bale has a contract and has to honour it, so why shouldn't the Blues be compensated when Wasps have taken a contracted employee off the Blues?

No
The article says they will take legal action against wasps if Dai young is announced as their director of rugby.
They just announced today, so I guess they will be hearing from Thomas' lawyers soon.

If there is an issue then shouldn't it be with Dai Young and not the Wasps? After all it was Dai that had the contract with them, Dai who handed in his notice & Dai who took a new job.
