Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
First topic message reminder :
Good morning tennis fans.
What a day we have in store. Djokovic v Tsonga and Nadal v Murray.
I have the fan on, the phone off, the doors locked and e-mails off.
It is going to be a historic day hopefully. Could we see the first Wimbledon final not to have had Nadal or Federer in it since 2002?
Fingers crossed.

The one that started this rot?

Very unlike Murray to go for too much when not needed. A surprising miss for sure.

Murray needs to re-group here and go back on the attack. Go after the BH.

Hey ho - if you'd told me that it would be 1-1 after 90mins I suppose I'd have taken that. Murray's got to treat this new set as a different story and start again.

This will be a real test now of murray's focus and resolve. These are the kind of hurdles he has to leap over to get that big trophy at a grandslam.

This clearly shows what it takes to win a slam. Now think of players who have 16 and 10 slams respectively.
Edit: Or 2 slams, 1 slam....

In the weak pre-Novak era Laverfan it isn't all that much. If Novak was playing in the weak era of 2004-2010 he would have 20 slams. Oh wait he was playing in that era, just kidding.

He's absolutely gone to pieces now - there's only one result unless he can find again the intensity of the 1st set, and I'm not putting any money on that at all.

Tough turnaround this - culmination of Murray dropping his level and Nadal raising his. Crowd are gee'd up more than last year and are really significantly behind Murray today.
Have to admit i don't mind who wins, but will supporting whoever does in the Final.

sorry social. However if he wins it will be well deserved and good luck to him etc. He's certainly done enough this year to be considered the current best player.

Nadal has shown what a phenom he is. How he has turned this match around has been extrodinary from where he was in the 2nd set at 2-1 on serve.

Re: Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
Clearly Murray is not fully mobile.
And his real problem is that he has no FH along the line. He doesn;t need to play it often but enough to give a sense of fear to Nadal. And his BH cross court was not very deadly....maybe all that because of his poor mouvement today.

Quite amazed how well Nadal has played.
After the 1st set I thought he might feel the pressure, but he's gone thru the gears.
Murray has played well, Nadal just has too much game

And Murray finally opening more on the FH along the line making his CC FH a bit more efficient.
But it so obvious he cannot run. Once again he is injured!

It's so obvious though. He cannot start quickly. Meaning he cannot return as he used to and cannot chase the balls as he did in the first set...and that makes Nadal look much better than he was in that 1st set.
The commentators are purposedly ignoring it.

Re: Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
Can't wait for the final, I think you can't ask for anything more than #1 and #2 playing it out for the biggest prize in the sport. Really, this is the way things should go. Murray at this point just not good enough to beat Rafa. Tenez is right about one thing, Murray really doesn't have a consistently dominating down the line forehand. This is a shot murray lacks that Novak has, and uses it to great effect against Nadal.

Your just embarrassing yourself really - Nadal hit around a dozen UEs all match - thats going to make it hard for anyone to beat him. Murrays Serve dropping has had more to do with him losing the momentum than anything.

Well, Lopez would probably capitulate to Rafa in straight sets like he does pretty much every time they play. Murray had a great tournament, congratulations to him. And Rafa, what can you say about him, he is such a great champion. He is so difficult to keep down. Nobody is mentally tougher or a better competitor. Congratulations to him and his fans.

Re: Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
Rafa Nadal remember is a multiple slam winner and world No.1 (until Monday) and Murray was on top for a set and a half then lost his way when he missed a sitter to get two break points. His levels dipped rapidly and couldn't really recover so Andy lost it which says a lot about his game that we can say that against one of the all-time greats Rafael Nadal. Nadal himself hardly put a foot wrong with unforced errors at a bare minimum and that is the measure of the man. Full credit to Rafa and for Andy the wait goes on.
