Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
First topic message reminder :
Good morning tennis fans.
What a day we have in store. Djokovic v Tsonga and Nadal v Murray.
I have the fan on, the phone off, the doors locked and e-mails off.
It is going to be a historic day hopefully. Could we see the first Wimbledon final not to have had Nadal or Federer in it since 2002?
Fingers crossed.

Tsonga's been broken 4 times before this match and Djokovic has done it twice and they've only played just over a set. This is over.
Djokovic is in full flow.
I never said wow wasn't right.

Fair enough, I didn't personally think Tsonga was upto the challenge of beating Djokovic and so it's proving...but it's not over yet...but I won't be betting against Djoko.

DOUBLE BREAK!
If it wasn't over before, it's over NOW!
I knew Tsonga would crack under the constant pressure and he is, far too many errors.

Jo-Wilfried is not able to hit through Novak like he did against Federer. Remarkable defensive powers from Novak.

reporter- what happened after 4-4
roddick- he broke my serve, then he broke me twice, in 2nd set and twice in4th set and in 26 min it was over.
tsonga must be preparing his post match speech now.

Djokovic has just stepped up and taken the match by the scruff of the neck. He has found another gear and Tsonga just hasn't had a look in this 2nd set.

The Djokovic dropshot the best in the game right now. The disguise is brilliant.

Maybe Djokovic can get a triple break, that really says it all about Fed's performance: limp.

Tsonga really needs to try and find some of the enterprise he showed against Federer. He seems to be unwilling to try and hit through the court at the moment, and he won't ever beat Novak from the baseline...

Re: Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
MfC, Tsonga was just hyped up like the media like to do, he isn't playing that dramatically different compared to Wednesday, just more errors which are creeping in because he's under more pressure, just like I said.
How many people said Tsonga would get to the final? Dreamland....I knew this is what would happen. I said before this match even started, Djokovic in straight sets or in 4. Looks like straight sets @ the moment.
Now the second set is gone. A new World No.1 will be crowned soon.

Re: Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
nah he played more adventurously on wednesday I thought. Just get the feeling he's a bit scared of Novak's counterpunching ability so is being a bit hesitant, for instance there a pretty lame second serve and he just chips it back, allowing Novak to gain control of tha point.

The foot positioning on the Inside-out FH by Djokovic is brilliant. Able to keep both feet in symmetrical position. Fantastic to watch.

Those break points say another story MfC, how many has Djokovic had now? It must be over 10 now. Djokovic is that step faster and it means he can boss the rallies and force the errors from Tsonga.

Oh I agree that Djokovic has been much better at reading and returning the Tsonga serve, but I don't think this is the same level of intensity we saw from Tsonga on wednesday; Djokovic has been superb though.

McEnroe: "He [Tsonga] looks a lot less energised than he did against Federer."
Pretty much the point I was trying to make (though once again, not taking anything away from Djokovic).

Disgree, djoko has stifled him and caused a mental disintegration. Djoko is a bad match up for tsonga.

Tsonga just looks completely broken now. 2 long BH's. Djokovic has just taken his performance to a whole level that Tsonga can't compete with.

Crazy athleticism by both guys but Tsonga just crumbles and gives novak a break up in the third.

Re: Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
Not watching but the momentum feels different from the Fed match - Djoko's had to fight from being down to get to here and he's progressively become more dominant. This is one 2-0 deficit that I don't see him getting back.
If Djoko has at last recovered some of his pre RG form during this match that augurs extremely well for the final. If he's going to be the New No. 1 I'd like to see him doing it by winning Wimbledon (unless he's against Murray that is).

Re: Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
Of course Tsonga is a lot less engerised, he's being systematically dismantled.
And again, more break points. Tsonga was hyped, that is all. I agree, because Djokovic is an excellent returner he's forcing Tsonga to go for those shots he used against Federer a lot more and they're risky shots to begin with and that's leading to the higher error count. He's going to make more errors than the Fed match and that's not because Tsonga is playing badly, it's because Djokovic is forcing them onto him.
Tsonga is defeated, I was spot on about this match. I'm just glad it's finishing soon so I can watch some of the Murray/Nadal match before I go to work.

Djokovic has displayed perfect control, once the foot was down it was never coming off and he has not allowed Tsonga a sniff after the first set. Truly dominating stuff from the Serb.

Re: Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
Anyone question why Novak is the best returner in the world right now? Tsonga has lost his serve 4 times and has had to fight off a huge number of break points. And novak serving beautifully winning 65 percent of points on second serve.

Re: Wimbledon Day 12 - Mens Semi Finals
Tsonga has given up, just crumbled under sustained pressure, really says it all. Djokovic has done all the things I thought he had to do to win (my posts on Djokovic vs Nadal final, during the middle of the discussion) and now he's in the final and World No.1, well done Djokovic, I knew you'd do it.

I can't say I have questioned his returning ability. In the first set he did struggle to take advantage of the first break points, but once he broke Tsonga, there was no looking back. Everything just clicked into place for him.

He cranked a couple of return for winners off the tsonga first serve in the last couple of service games that caused the jaws to drop. Another great point and a diving beckeresque volley for Tsonga to hold to 3-4

Just a lapse there from Djokovic. Handing some break points to Tsonga. Great return there from Tsonga, that was a good serve from Djokovic too.

Yeah, Novak has to make it interesting, he is bossing the points then makes two or three bad errors in a row on easy balls and lets Tsonga break him. Crucial to blunt Tsonga's momentum on this service game and get back his edge if this match goes into a tiebreak.

Nah, I knew this won't go to a tie break, Djokovic has broken back, no surprises to me.
He'll serve for the match, well done Djokovic, well deserved! Straight sets victory.

Way to go Novak, no need for a tiebreaker now. When he is on with his return he is lethal. Yesterday Roger broke Tsonga 1 time, that was just Novak's 5th break of the Tsonga serve.
