West Indies drops Ramnaresh Sarwan
Senior batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan is dropped from the West Indies team to play the 3rd test against India.
Young Kieran Powell is picked in his place.
The massively tallented Sarwan, who has a bit of a reputation of being an underachiever, has been struggling for test runs throughout the season. He had a poor series against Pakistan, and in the series against India, He was troubled by Ishant Sharma, and only managed 29 runs.
West Indies, already without the out of favor Chris Gayle, has lost more experience with Sarwan's axing. Batsman Brendan Nash was already dropped for the 2nd match.
What do you think of Sarwan's axing? How about Kieran Powell, how do cricket supporters from the WI rate him? I thought Brathwate the young opener picked to play against Pakistan should have been given a chance. May be he and Barat could have opened, and Simmons can bat down at 3?

"only manged 23 runs"
Doesnt that make him one of the best West Indian batsmen in recent history?

23 is almost a quarter of a normal Windies total

I suspect there moere to this than just the number of runs hes returned.
He averages 40 in both tests and ODIs, West Indies arent going to find a bastman who does that for some time.
As with Gayles continued exile from the team this is surely to do with attitude and his affect on team mates, and quite possibly financial disagreements.
It comes across as a bit Pakistanesque.

Sarwan with all his talent has been a major letdown.
A guy with all the shots, ability to play the long innings, an average of 40 is ordinary

Sarwan hasn't been a quality player, but he has been in pretty poor touch for a rather long time. In fact it was because of this that he found himself out of the test side for some time. and in 4 tests after his comeback, he didn't do anything of note.
but may be he should have got at least this series, for me the axing has come a test too early.
What about Powell? is he a flashy player or one with a decent technique?
