First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be? appletini guinness cider Ale

Fantastic stuff, Stag - but the offside law has to count for something, surely?

I don't follow about the offside. The defensive line or the attacking one

Nah, it's all about the kick for the corner and then pressure the opposition ball isn't it?

Morning all

Can't believe I am sat at my desk at work and will miss the Super XV final. Will have to see if I can get a decent stream on my phone to watch it on, although sods law says I will be out dealing with something when it's on anyway.

Sorry about that short post. One of the girls has gotten a moving company to take some of her stuff an leave it in ours but she's gone back to Manchester, so I had to be back at my old house to let these guys in by 8 this morning.

I'm knackered as well. Didn't get to sleep until after 1 as after youth club I went to a friend's house where we played Chinese shirades, which was good fun.

Sun is splitting the trees here, to such an extent that I might break out the sun cream for the lads playing football as we got terribly singed last week. Meanwhile across the pond golfs Scottish Open is going to struggle for a Monday finish, hardly the best prep for the open, due to the torrential rain and flooding. May god continue to bless the British isles...

Stag,Pm sent.

Sorry Gibbo, left when there was little talk on. It was Cork City Vs Salthill Devon. City had I think 24 efforts on goal yet only one goal. Salthill had one and it was wide. City won one nil but it was incredibly one sided. The positive side is I found a doppelganger of one of my friends.

Up for the rugby. Had to set an alarm mind, but I am very excited about it. Just watching this Premier League years before it. Nostalgia.

Flip me like, a lineout is actually getting reffed properly today. Two not straights actually called.

This, plus Glas' point about the renaissance.

Writers in repressive regimes to this day use allegory and different settings to imply points their government wouldn't allow them to make! England in Shakespeares time was fairly repressive- his tragedies and comedies stories often concern either scandal, scheming and corruption amongst the top echelon of society. No way could he write that way about English nobles and royalty!

I've always though Suncorp is similar to the Millennium Stadium and now it's proved with the necessary pitch fix.

Flip me, I really am being spoiled with not straight lineouts today.

Think Genia has been watching Mike Phillips a bit too much.

Not really. Clearly trying to force the Reds to commit to the breakdown. Both defences are up really quickly so when the ball goes wide players have only the briefest moments to do something. We've seen Cooper- Williams, Carter pressured into mistakes... think it's smart rugby.

It is smart Notch but the S15 has that reputation. Its quite an error strewn game actually. Funny to think its 0-0 after nearly half an hour. Compare that to HEC Final!

Yeah, it's mental. It's almost as if the pace the game is being played at is being dictated by the defences. So quick to pressurise, line speed so quick, the breakdown is being allowed to be a bit of a free for all and both teams are making loads of errors because of the amount of work being done by the defending side.

I have to confess that I'm surprised by some of the ruck interpretations - have seen several defenders flying round the outside to take out guards, and some really lazy running behind rucks from both teams Braveheart
