The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

You mean at the cinema Micky? No I don't think so. My mate goes to the cinema on his own sometimes cause he's a huge film buff and likes to see things at the cinema regardless of whether or not someone will go with him.

No its not sad Micky. Get a weepy in and have a good cry.
Notch, some of those pictures are brilliant. The Irish ones are superb. As are the Leinster ones. Ulster ones too. But my favourite one, is with the 2 cheeky Ulster Ra Ra girls and Sparkey's tail wagging looking at them. The big one would eat him alive. Pure class.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I go to the cinema by myself a lot. I like to go if I have a day off to a matinee, just after lunch. Not many people around to go with at that time. So maybe in a typical week I'll study/work Monday-Wednesday, a little bit on Thursday in the evening, Friday, Saturday. So I might go to the cinema on Thursday afternoon or something. It's all cool.
I've actually been invited to the NI premiere of the new Harry Potter film. It's for a fundraiser for Autism NI (a charity I and my family support). I'm just worried that its going to be a crowd of 30 year old men dressed like wizards and the like

Went to cinema by myself once to kill time. Went to shrek and was very conscious i looked like a kiddie snatcher there on my own. I wanted to see xmen first class in cinema but nobody would go with me. I didn't go alone.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yeah, it would be weird to go to a kids film by yourself!
I don't feel self-conscious when I'm on my own in public. I'm in great company.

He's as cute as the runs. I don't mind him really, he's just a bully.
Somebody hacked my account to call As and Huggy that. I'd have abused that dirty mutt too if I'd have done it

Only joking!
(The Munster Hurling Final is always a big day in every GAA fan's life - games are usually better than the All Ireland Final as there are a couple of competitive counties).

I did see this morning that I had a missed call from As at about midnight last night, but I was safely tucked up in bed by then due to an early start this morning.
A good time was had by all I presume?

I didn't get a missed call, but then I think they're upset that whoever hacked my account gave them a hard time.
I had a great day yesterday. Had a chat with Tovey for a while. He shared a room with Henson in Poland and said the guy is sound. They discussed The Batchelor and it sounds pretty interesting. Was winding him up about his glassback too.
Fair to say, I was pretty caned though. Went home early, so got good brownie points for that.

I'm very, very pleased that the All Blacks are on the other side of the RWC draw to Ireland. This video sums up the reasons why I feel that way;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSiDp-xMvV4
If we come up against them, we'll have already upset the bookies.

Yeh, I think if we were to get those boys it will be after we have gotten past some teams that people aren't expecting us to get past and therefore might be anyones game if we got that far..

I'm gonna see the Dubs terrible performance from them just now though. They just made it to win the Leinster final. Bernard had a bummer of a game and even got taken off before FT.

Haven't really bothered with the GAA the last few years after attending most of them up until about 4 years ago but watched it today.
It did not do a lot in terms trying to increase my interest in the sport again..

Yeah it will Micky. it'll be more special seeing the Dubs as well To be fair, that game was very slow to get off the ground and the Dubs really didn't play well. I have to be honest, if matches were given to those who deserved it, Wexford would've got it. They played their guts out bless them, and they were so close to making history too.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I had to laugh at this headline.
http://thefrontrowunion.com/2011/07/no-ulster-players-in-australia-tri-nations-squad/
Quelle surprise!
The article did remind me of something; that Bryce Lawrence is taking charge of our game against Australia. Seeing how he handled the breakdown sends a chill down my spine. Pocock will enjoy a laissez faire approach!

Oh jesus Notch your right There are lots of rumours that Bryce L is only where he is now due to his Daddy being the referee manager with NZRU and also the IRB.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yay nepotism
Well, we did give away a lot of penalties ourselves at the breakdown in the 6N because we were always looking for the turnover. Could be a lot of turnovers in this game if he refs it like that!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Exactly, In reality we should be good enough to adapt to a referee. If he is being lenient we should be savy enough to push the limits and if its clear that he is enforcing a no-tolerance approach we should have enough cop on to not be as aggressive.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I got quite a bit of flak last time that debate came up in the Pub, I'm just going to quietly agree

You remember right? Ulster vs Scarlets at Ravenhill, lenient/blind ref, Ulster win a lot of savvy turnovers... best leave it at that!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Ah that was a bit different really. It was a dreadful refereeing performance which you conveniently put aside because your team won. I've seen you bemoan too many referees in Ravenhill to be able to back you up on that.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
that match isn't allowed to be spoken about (and talk about timing!)
Afternoon all, had an ace weekend, and the lovely Penfro and Mrs Penfro dropped me off not too long ago Not looking forward to tomorrow now though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I didn't put it aside, I just said we were savvy enough to take advantage of it. The same way Ireland will have to make it work to their advantage if B Lawrence doesn't enforce the laws at the breakdown.
EDIT; The lady knows how to make an entrance
Let's not get sidetracked onto that game, that was last season- last season is gone. I'm just agreeing with you that if a ref is lenient at the breakdown its in your advantage to push it to the limit.
