First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be? appletini guinness cider Ale

Alright Hughie. Good time? I've decided this weekend to refine my shaving technique after years of suffering razor burn, poor quality shaves and ingrown hairs. I'm going to go retro and look at using a blade and badger brush!!

Anyone else see the score in the Munster Hurling Final. Tipperary scored SEVEN goals Shocked Waterford scored 13/19 of the points from free kicks and were truly abysmal.

Evening all. Ow.

And the bleeping Aussies won the netball world cup in extra time this morning (fair payback for our Commonwealth Games win I guess).

I don't know if this has been posted outside, the ABs 3N squad is out http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/all-blacks/5263037/Jarrad-Hoeata-joins-All-Blacks-squad

I had a great day yesterday. Had a chat with Tovey for a while. He shared a room with Henson in Poland and said the guy is sound. They discussed The Batchelor and it sounds pretty interesting. Was winding him up about his glassback too.

Fair to say, I was pretty caned though. Went home early, so got good brownie points for that.

Apologies to all that received the midnight call yesterday - Rev, trust me, if I'd had your phone number, you would have done - I blame hughie and his jaeger-bombs. Bliwdy lethal. Cracking party, lovely to see everyone and a very funny trip up and back down - we had to stop at almost every pub in the Peak district on the way there Braveheart

Anyway, fitness test tomorrow. This place has been pretty quiet this evening.

I'm pretty hungover and hoarse from T in the Park but here none the less, I'm also pondering the nature of the name of the Beckham family's latest addition.

Does anyone wonder what has happened to Harper 1,2,3,4,5 and 6? And does anyone know why the Beckhams have named their wee girl like a killer cyborg?

On the 'Seven' middle name, that was David Beckham's number for Man United and England. How self-obsessed is that?

I tended to wear number seven when I played soccer so I'm so pleased the Beckhams realised the importance of it. But seriously, worst name since Frank Zappa called his child Moon unit one.

To transcend to another level, welcome to the world Harper 7! 7 obviously being the number he wore when he was at United. Harper? Highlight of my day has to be the Daily Mail suggesting it might have come from Harper Lee the author of 'To kill a mockingbird'. Some muppet journalist has evidently just googles Harper and written down the top thing on the list.

Lucky, I find it worrying that you know so much about the Beckhams! Until reading in here this morning I didn't even know they'd had the baby!

Talking of babies though, Stephen Jones' girlfriend gave birth to their first child on Friday, tis a baby boy. Don't know the name as of yet though.

Back in the office today and logged on to the news that all but two of my colleagues will be gone by November and I'll be "surplus to requirements". Still, the Dubs won yesterday so that trip's going to be whopper in three weeks, and I've been dreaming up more trips away....every cloud. Smile

Thanks guys. These things are never pleasant and central government has been particularly unkind in the way they've done things. I haven't taken voluntary redundancy (yet) which means I'll be placed on a redeployment register with the hope of relocating elsewhere. It just means I'm in a sort of limbo and will have to watch some good colleagues leaving, and I've no idea about the future. I suppose that could be rather exciting.

Sorry to hear your news, Cari. The thing to remember is that what's happening isn't a result of anything you've done wrong. It's beyond your control, too.

That's meant to sound positive! Hug

Dreamer, I was joking about the Beckhams' favourite novels. I might have guessed correctly, but I doubt it.

You're right Lucky.

On the Beckhams baby name. It's just another example of the ridiculous pretentious world these people live in. Harper's not too bad because, as we know, it could come from a respected author, but Seven as a middle name is just taking the pish. It's as bad as Gwyneth Paltrow calling her kid Apple. There realy should be someone at the registry who's job it is to refuse such ****witted names. Just because their kids will go to posh schools doesn't mean to say they won't get bullied.

ha Lucky I thought you might have been, especially with Mrs Beckhams one. I maybe should have added a Wink to my post!

just got a few mins left in my lunch break to have a quick look at the Scarlets' leisure range, hoping there's good stuff there for this new season Smile
