Key isn't even waiting til the last ball of the over to take a single, he's quite happy for Joseph to take strike, and he doesn't appear to be in any trouble against toothless Tremlett..............just 31 to win now

''Joseph's whole role now changes'' - Churchy - as Ansari gets the most valuable wicket of his career (so far).

To be fair to Hyphen, Churchy explains the ball really smashed into his arm and he was unable to get to it as it looped into the air.

So drinks in the officers mess with the Corporal
We needed that win to get us back in the mix though in reality we should have made it alot easier than it turned out to be, but when have we liked making things easy.
Just makes you wonder what if about that Gloucester game.
Well played boys improvement on the last couple of seasons
5 wins on the trot in all compititions

Re: surrey vs kent county championship division 2
Roy catches Shaw at short leg as he tries a reverse sweep off Nora and we win by 21 runs.
''What a game of cricket that has been''- Churchy.
Very true, Churchy, but we made it a lot harder than it should have been. After the deserved celebrations, questions should still be asked and answered.
Final thought - will this win give us a bit more confidence and the edge tomorrow? Probably not in the lottery of t20 but it won't do any harm.

We shouldn't be letting teams get 300 in the 4th inns, but it's another win and a game we would've lost over the last 3 seasons!

Re: surrey vs kent county championship division 2
One improved aspect of our performance in this match relates to the comparatively low number of extras we conceded.
Ignoring leg byes (not really the fault of the bowling side), we conceded a total of 21 extras in Kent's two innings. In contrast, Kent conceded 43 in our two innings.
That's a difference of 22 runs, exactly the amount Kent needed to win when their final wicket fell!
Now for that

Its refreshing that Adams described letting Kent back into the game as "criminal" in his post-match interview.

Re: surrey vs kent county championship division 2
Tibor - totally agree.
The admission from Adams that things did not go smoothly throughout this game leads me to think there will be some changes for the CC game against Middlesex at Guildford next week.
Presumably Tremlett - despite a pretty ordinary match for us - will be on England duty and replaced by the returning Dernbach. Regardless of the wumming comments of a few (mainly on the old 606), Dernbach learnt most of his cricket at Guildford and will get a good reception there.
The one whose place I most fear for is Jason Roy. Even as his ''strongest supporter'' (per the Corporal), I acknowledge Roy didn't cover himself in glory against Kent. However, it would be a mistake in my view to leave him out. Not only should Roy's emerging talent be encouraged but it also needs to be recognised that Guildford is a small ground and ideally suited for Roy's clean hitting. He has been successful there before, albeit against fairly weak opposition.
I went along to Guildford early last season with the main aim of assessing the county potential of Laurie Evans against Essex seconds and came away convinced I had seen a future international in Roy. He will make a decent score against Middlesex next week if he is at the crease for, say, only half an hour. I just hope he gets the chance.
Anyway, we have a few limited overs games before then ....

If a batsmen has to miss out than it would be Maynard for me, he hasn't really done much in the longer form of the game for some time.
I'd rather we perservered with players the club developed themselves.
Harinath/Other to open and Roy to take Maynards spot at 6 if it were me.

Re: surrey vs kent county championship division 2
Well I wasn't sure about the team selection at the start, I wouldn't have played 2 spinners but as it turns out Gaffer was the reason we won - wothout the 'Key' wicket we would have lost that game.
I still think that Harinath should be opening and that Roy should be batting at 6 or 7. I reckon we could manage with a 4 man attack and play 7 batsmen to accommodate them all - Hyphen and The Brain can be the 5th bowler anyhow. I agree with Tibor about Maynard, he is just as likely to face the drop as Roy, especially as he is playing in his favoured position and Roy is not. Actually, hile I'm on the subject I really don't get why Ramps doesn't just open to allow the others to play in the middle order and learn their trade.
Still, very good that we managed to scrape over the line although we shouldn't have let them get 300 in 2nd innings. The batting needs looking at as only the Brain did anything of note apart from Batty who is a bowler.
The bowling was disappointing as I thought Tremlett and Meaker would be able to have a big impact in the second innings, however this is the first 'failure' in the CC of Meaker's season so I won't be too harsh. Hopefully he'll come back stronger next match.

Re: surrey vs kent county championship division 2
Evening all! I'm mighty glad I only checked on the score when the match was all over..... The drinks cabinet looks depleted for some reason.....
I've had a look at the highlights and it looks remarkably like a Surrey spinner, Ansari, took a wicket by turning the ball. Getting the "key" wicket will be a major boost for his confidence.
I suspect that Kent getting 300 in the last innings was only a little bit better than par for them - mainly accounted for by a bad off day for Meaker and Tremlett not firing on all cylinders; but the real issue was Surrey batting folding so badly in second innings which largely negated our first innings lead.

Once again Meaker comes on and ruins a great start. Playing him in this form baffles me I sometimes wonderif our management know what they are doing.
If it was a case of few bad games from a youngster I would be happy to stick with him but his style of bowling does not suit this game.

Now 6 wides
When our openers start so well why don't we just bowl them out four overs each we could of have them 50 odd for 3 after 8 if we did that!
