Exclusive: More on Vince McMahon & CM Punk's Negotiations
According to several high level WWE sources, tomorrow is "the day" for WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, talent relations executive John Laurinaitis, and CM Punk in regards to Punk's contract, which expires after the pay per view next Sunday in Chicago.
"This is very much like the Jericho and Jeff Hardy situations," a key WWE insider told WrestleZone exclusively this weekend, "Punk's contract has already expired, but he signed an extension through the pay per view in order to work the main event with Cena in Chicago."
There are those in WWE who are Punk-detractors, but it's obvious to management (and, some say, to McMahon) that WWE is sorely lacking in star power with the recent retirement of Edge; HHH and Undertaker off the road; and loss of other talent like Jericho, Batista, MVP and Shawn Michaels to injury, contract expiration, or retirement.
"This will really be an interesting week for CM Punk," stated the key insider. "He's got a lot of star power, and it seems like WWE even resents him for it!"
MVP? WTF?
Anyway, thought you guys might be interest to read this.

doesn't really tell us anything new - Vince knows he needs all the star power he can get yet Punk isn't exactly thought of as the prodigal son...well not yet anyway!

I still get the feeling he wants a break and he will be leaving imminently.
It's more or less in spite of WWE that he remains so over -- they need to find ways to make new main eventers and this will at least force their hand.

Big rumours over the weekend were that MITB will be ‘invaded’ by Colt Cabana, Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli to assist Punk get the win. Cabana has already revealed he will be at MITB but hasn’t said if it will be purely as a fan.

I'm sure there were lots of stuff from inside guys months ago about how Punk's contract would expire in November? Yet now that the contract situation has become a part of the story, suddenly all the insiders are revealing it has already expired, or will expire after Money in the Bank, seems like it's WWE releasing this information.

That's such a cool idea, but i fear that maybe creative could mess it up. I mean there isn't a tag division and hasn't been for years. Maybe this could start up the tag division again I Don't Know, and also how many stables has Punk been apart of now. I mean sure he's the best at what he does but all the stables have gone stale again through creative. Maybe if Punk has a say in the storyline it could be a potental turing point in WWE.
At least this will give us something to talk about on the 18th. So Many ways this could go.
