Why is Boxing the most talked about sport on 606v2 and not Rugby Union?

So as it stands rugby (38931 posts) is the 2nd most talked about sport on 606 v2 behind Boxing! (58084 posts)

Since when has boxing had such a big following? I know boxers like to talk (although most of it is rubbish) but 20000+ extra posts is just ridiculous?

How can we address this imbalance should we encourage more Welsh posters as they like to draw out a sentence which could be said in half the words?

The boxing crowd moved over to v2 a lot sooner than the rugby lot. We rugby posters mostly stayed on old 606 right to the end so we're just playing catch up. The rugby world cup should soon sort that though, it's been amazing how quickly we've got to 38931 posts as it is!

I'd add that Rugby is in the post season at the moment, so in reality this is low level thread rates for RU. Boxing has had a number of high profile fights over the past while and there is probably a consistent rate of threads for boxing and MMA (though to a lesser extent). Combine that with boxing moving across sooner than RU and it is only a matter of time.

38k posts when there is no Pro12-Aviva-Top14 or NH internationals on means that is good debate going on here.

And its not exactly like boxing has had a low profile in the last few weeks

Rugbydreamer is correct, this site was dead prior to 606 closing, and it was a different format a bit like 606 divided up into ML/International/6N etc.

In some ways I can see why it was changed to the current format but now we have lots of posts I prefer to go back to the original format i.e., my interest is Wales/6N/RWC and ML I am not that interested in SH, English rugby etc all mixed up together.

One of the first guys to jump to 606v2 was Osprayilan and did a great job getting 606v2 up to speed but I have not seen him on here for a while, I hope he is OK?

I take that as the gauntlet thrown down, rugby shall dominate 606V2

Alun - as far as I'm aware Ospreylian is fine. He hasn't really been posting on here too much since old 606 closed really. Hope we see him around here again soon

just to clarify - rugby dreamer is right.

Boxing moved over in March whereas most of you gits decided to stay on 606 until mid May.

Since then, the rugby board has been the top for posts and will continue to grow.

The twitter feeds have helped a lot and I would guess the rugby twitter has been responsible for a lot of our newer members.

As for design, I think we could do with changing the sections again; however I will let you discuss that gem of a topic with kiwi and dreamer.

Because is no other sport do fans spend so long talking about fantasy matches or things which happened over a century ago.

Well, its a funny old thing isn't it, rugby is in the off season and there's been a couple of high profile fights lately. Answers on a postcard...

My optimism for todays reveal was somewhat misplaced.

Waiting on a third part before we can do the big reveal.
