The John Cena Appreciation thread
First topic message reminder :
So, in my time on this board and others, I've written the odd very controversial topic. From my assertions that Bret Hart and Chris Jericho are hugely over-rated, to my noted loathing of TNA... however, this one could be the most spectacular of all.
We can all sit here and list the things that Cena does poorly. The man has no idea how to sell. Or to bump. Or to wrestle. Or to apply his own submission move effectively. He can, however, do some things very well indeed.
From the evidence of last night's Raw, when he does serious promos, he does them very, very well.
He has the occasional good-to-excellent match - I've mentioned the match with Lashley before, his series with Edge was excellent.
He can take some punishment. His TLC match with Edge had some huge bumps, the beating Orton and Miz gave him with kendo sticks, he's bladed back in the days when this was allowed...
He never takes himself too seriously. The match at One Night Stand with Rob Van Dam and his reaction to the incredibly hostile crowd was perfect. he played his heel role with wit and clearly enjoyed it, as opposed to the almighty sulk that one D. Batista threw when faced with the same situation a few weeks after. That match alone has given me a very grudging respect for John Cena. And I cannot wait for the Miami reaction when he faces the Rock.
So over to the rest of the board: what do you like about John Cena?

Responding to a WUM in WUM mode is a right of passage, on topic, only an absolute idiot would believe WrestleMania wouldn't have a main event without John Cena, that would be and imbeciles view, the mod should have merged the topic

Re: The John Cena Appreciation thread
I don't think he's saying there wouldn't be ANY main event, rather than the main event of Cena vs. The Rock, which the poster clearly thinks is amazing wouldn't happen...which to be fair, it's true. Without Cena, The Rock vs. John Cena wouldn't happen at WM 28.

What about a post to tell you that you made a good point about my own off topic post? Could that be considered off topic?

I'll just ensure that I also make a comment relating to the topic in question.
For example.
I've deleted the above posts because you called the OP a poopie.
PS. What seriously was going on with HHH's ability to say the word 'duties'
Re: The John Cena Appreciation thread
I still think Cena is a terrible Wrestler, I don't think he did that well on the wrestling front the other night, however I did think he showed he can be a very good worker, he played his role perfectly at MitB

I think gaffer has a 'David Otunga' level of charisma.
But staying on topic, i also agree that alot of people confuse being a good wrestler with being a good worker.

I don't really care about whether someone is a good wrestler. Because it's fake.
It's all about the story.

Mr Perfect would have been rolling in his grave seeing Cena's fishermans. They are truely awful.

Actually being that this is the John Cena appreciation it was a bit like John Cena getting fired.
Although that does mean I'm Vince and soon my doofus son in law Hobo will be taking over.
God help you all then.

I think we've already established that you're Otunga. Although personally i'd say you were more like a cross between Eugene and Colin Delaney.

Re: The John Cena Appreciation thread
Cena's major problem is every match he ever has will now be compared to the sensational match he had with CM Punk.
And that's what is wrong with Cena as a character. He'll pull out a damn good fight when he has to and the rest of the time just breeze along on the wind.
He and Rocky have their work cut out for themselves.

Re: The John Cena Appreciation thread
I don't think every match will be, or should be, judged upon the CM Punk match. Just as every Shawn Michaels match isn't compared to the Razor Ramon ladder match and every Bret Hart match isn't compared to Stone Cold Steve Austin one.
It's part of a body of work, and a part which represents one moment in time. A moment that might never be replicated by either man, because both were driven on by the occassion, the hype, and the reaction. If those three elements are not there when he next fights Kofi Kingston or The Miz then you won't get the same result, and the viewers won't enjoy it as much.
Doesn't mean it won't be a good match.

Yes but Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart put on consistently good matches throughout their careers and are remembered for that while Cena has put on many questionable performances not just on the weekly shows but also on PPV's which is inexcusable for a main event star

Don't forget referring to Hero as 'Maccs', seemingly forgetting that most of us know who that is but trying to show he's one of the 'boy's'.

Yeah remember Napes, he was in both 6WF and 7WF for quite some time, good laugh. He disappeared before the end of 606 though I recall (would be happily proved wrong).
Re: The John Cena Appreciation thread
Yeah its all a laugh mate, I like those roasts.
I didn't think calling Hero Maccs was seen as some kind of secret that everyone was in on, I Joined BBC fans forums in 2006 and we used some obscure board for Wrestling, my Wrestling account was Wrestling Fan (WF) and his was Macclad, he kept that name and when we went to the original Niceboard I used this username, he called me gaff on 606 and I continued to use his original username, I've got flesh and blood pals to be 'one of the boys' and I've got you lot to share this nerdy hobby that I hide from the real world

Re: The John Cena Appreciation thread
It was a guilty pleasure of mine, if my mates knew i liked wrestling this much i would have been murdered, but just recently ive joined twitter under my real name and my real mates have seen me tweeting wrestlers and revealed me for the geek that i am! Played footy with some of them last night and oh dear me did i get some stick! So my secret is out, im out of the closet, do i feel better for it? Hell no, i feel like a proper c**t.
