North Vs South

Just going to be a quick one.

Rio Ferdinand has said he would like to see a North Vs South match instead of the charity shield. Now, this isnt an article to discuss if this is a good idea (it's not) but rather who would feature in the respective teams and the overall winner.

On balance it's a tough match, but I would go with the South to win. They just seem to have that bit more flair in midfield.

Tiote is far better than Yaya....

I'd say it's pretty close, Yaya will obviously look good playing in that team but he excelled at Barca for a while, could Tiote excel at BarcA?

Yaya never suited Barca's style. Tiote offers much better value for money.

As a Newcastle fan I would have to agree. Tiote is a real top class player.

Playing Fab, Nasri, Modric and Wilshire in midfield would be a mistake. De Jong and Tiote would bully them.

For what it is worth I think the North would win, they have steel in the middle of the park with classy players like Silva and Tevez to provide that little bit extra. I dont see Vidic and Ferdinand struggling with Van Persie/Drog, but the Norths strikers would pose more problems.

I think if you're accounting how much they cost their respective teams then Tiote seems the better deal, but in terms of actual player I think Toure did more for Man City last year than Tiote did for Newcastle. I think Mancini used Yaya Toure in a really clever way, as an attacking midfielder who almost acts like a bulldozer through defences.
