surrey vs kent & sussex twenty/20
after the great win today its back to twenty/20 and the final two games in the group a win tomorrow and friday might hopefully get us a quarter final tie at home but the main thing is we win tomorrow to ease the pressure of having to win at hove.
team news:
Jade Dernbach is included in a squad of thirteen to face both Kent and Sussex in the Friends Life t20, on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th July.
also returning is gary wilson after playing for ireland vs scotland
chris tremlett will not be allowed to play along with kevin pietersen england orders i'm afraid
also left out of the squad is matthew spriegel
The full Surrey Lions squad to face the Kent Spitfires at the Kia Oval on Thursday 14th July and the Sussex Sharks at Hove on Friday 15th July is:

Jason Roy
Steven Davies (Wicket Keeper)
Tom Maynard
Zander De Bruyn
Zafar Ansari
Gary Wilson
Yasir Arafat
Chris Schofield
Gareth Batty
Stuart Meaker
Jade Dernbach
Dirk Nannes

Schofield and Wilson to be left out I would guess. Great to have Dernbach back but a shame not to have Tremlett as well. After our win today I would hope we would beat Kent, they have done well in the competition but at the start were not one of the 4 teams I looked at to be our competition for a QF place. I wouldn't be confident about needing a win at Hove to qualify!

Re: surrey vs kent & sussex twenty/20
I think Wilson will miss out. Maybe Schofield as well - but especially if the pitch might take a bit of spin I could see Schofield playing in place of Meaker on the basis that Schofield can score fast from the word go and Meaker's radar was all over the place in 2nd innings against Kent.

We only need one win to be certain of qualifying for the last 8, let's hope it's tonight on telly..........Corry will have to be on Sky+
Can't see why Wilson is in the squad, so it's him and one of our 7 (with the Brain and Hyphen we could call it 9!) bowlers to miss out - Ansari has certainly shown enough to keep his place so I'm going for Meaker!

Hopefully you can do us a favour and beat Kent...
The game at Hove is turning into the biggest crunch tie this year

Goochie - you are certainly up for this one. I have the impression you've not missed an episode of Corry since the days of Hilda Ogden!
I also can't see Wilson playing. I'm sure he's just there as cover in case one of the batters gets a last minute injury or illness.
I'm pretty sure Schofield will again be the other one to miss out. We've got more than enough slowies already - Nora, the Gaffer and, if necessary, Hyphen. Understand the Corporal's point about Meaker's radar being off on Tuesday but he's finished well in some recent t20 games which I reckon will get him the nod.
The momentum is clearly with us after our CC victory against Kent yesterday and recent t20 wins (four on the bounce, I think). However, it is still easy to mess up but incredibly difficult to recover from in this type of lottery. Nothing taken for granted - other than Goochie later on catching up with Corry!

JimBob - Eastenders!
I've been discussing on the wallpaper site the protocol for watching a t20 game at the ground. You are probably well aware, JimBob, but just to spell out a few essential requirements:
* You need to hold a pint glass of lager in one hand at all times- even when going to the bar to get more lager or to the toilet to get rid of the last one.
* You need to hold a mobile phone in your other hand and talk inanely into it all times including when you are at the bar ordering more lager.
* You are required to go to the bar or the toilet at least once every other over. However - and this is a tricky bit for some - you are not allowed to go to either at the end of an over. It is therefore recommended that you instead stand up and leave your seat in the middle of an over; that is actually a compulsory requirement if the bowler is on a hat trick.
For some of the above reasons I'll be watching on the telly at Guildford Towers tonight but hope you enjoy I will though be going to see some live cricket next week. You'll never guess where ....

Kent batting first, bad start. Batty I think drops Key first ball although not sure it carried. Half bothered effort either way and 13 off the first over

Fantastic fielding from Roy runs out Key after a great Dernbach over. Lazy running does for Key!

Massive score about to be posted. YAsir Arafat's bowling and fielding performance has been nothing short of woeful and I would lose absolutely no sleep if he never played for Surrey again. Pathetic.

Re: surrey vs kent & sussex twenty/20
Kent 181 - 9 off their 20.
A big score but it looked like it would be even more at one stage. Still in with a chance but we'll need to bat well from the off and keep it going throughout.
Very good bowling at the death from Nannes and, in particular, Dernbach. All the others got some clobber. Arafat and Meaker end up with combined figures of 0 - 60 off 5 overs. Time for the Viscount?
As mentioned above, variable fielding. Excellence from and good work behind the stumps from Davies but schoolboy howlers from Arafat . Encouraging at least that we conceded only 2 extras.
Let Part Two commence ....

Re: surrey vs kent & sussex twenty/20
Dernbach was superb tonight, showed why he is an England player. 182 is a very tough ask but is about the best we could have hoped for after 15 overs. Will be a record breaker if we do it (for Surrey at The Oval anyway). Need a very good start.

A quickly taken single and great dive by to avoid a run out from a direct throw by Northeast.
I think it was Tibor who said at the t20 Rose Bowl game that Roy's running between the wickets wasn't too clever. He seems to have learnt already ....

A fifty for keeping us well in the game.
How many are watching and admiring at the Oval and on tv? I don't know but I reckon a few more than were with me at Guildford when Roy destroyed Essex seconds in May 2010.

Kent just bowling full and straight and we can't do anything with it, our lot bowled halfway down and let them do what they wanted. That's the reason we'll lose this.
