surrey vs kent & sussex twenty/20
First topic message reminder :
after the great win today its back to twenty/20 and the final two games in the group a win tomorrow and friday might hopefully get us a quarter final tie at home but the main thing is we win tomorrow to ease the pressure of having to win at hove.
team news:
Jade Dernbach is included in a squad of thirteen to face both Kent and Sussex in the Friends Life t20, on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th July.
also returning is gary wilson after playing for ireland vs scotland
chris tremlett will not be allowed to play along with kevin pietersen england orders i'm afraid
also left out of the squad is matthew spriegel
The full Surrey Lions squad to face the Kent Spitfires at the Kia Oval on Thursday 14th July and the Sussex Sharks at Hove on Friday 15th July is:
Rory Hamilton-Brown (Captain)
Jason Roy
Steven Davies (Wicket Keeper)
Tom Maynard
Zander De Bruyn
Zafar Ansari
Gary Wilson
Yasir Arafat
Chris Schofield
Gareth Batty
Stuart Meaker
Jade Dernbach
Dirk Nannes

"Some people are on the pitch..."| etc etc
Ho Hum
Good luck Hants, Zummerzet, Kent and Sussex. I don't rule out a Southern cleamn sweep in the 1/4s though it would take a considerable effort and a bit of luck.

Although Maynard trying to show he can ....
Yeah that's my thinking, especially when chasing a target even when the openers get us off to a good start its often left down to Maynard with too much to do as the others have failed. That said we only have 4 batsmen plus Brain who plays like a snail so it's hardly surprising! Valiant from Wine Gums but putting Brain in at 3 was stupid. Meakers bowling effectively lost us that game.

Well done, Gregers!
By the sound of things your boys deserved it although we continue not to help ourselves at times (not just play but also selection).
As I suspected, you scored just too many. A century maker in t20 doesn't often end up on the losing side ....

Congrats Gregers, I think Hants and Somerset are the best bets for a win, will be interesting to see how the QFs go. In the end we just weren't good enough over the 16 games, not far off though. An extra batsman and 1 less bowler might have helped!

Congrats to Gregers and Sussex
Disappointing obviously, but at least we are getting competative
A little bit of 'tweaking' selection wise and we would certainly have been in the QF's

Re: surrey vs kent & sussex twenty/20
Question: who should Surrey send in at No 3 in the T20?
Answer: it's a no Brainer!

Re: surrey vs kent & sussex twenty/20
Roy and Maynard were big positives for me, Maynard consistently finished the innings well and Roy consistently (in the end) started it well. just needs to learn to carry an innins through, although in T20 you have to be happy with 50 off 30 balls every time. In CB40 I think he can be a bit more measured and take his time a bit more. Brain will also work better in 40 overs and I'd imagine Spriegel will get another look in. Personally I'd like to see Harinath in there somewhere, possibly number 6 to start with, top 3 of Roy, Davies and Hyphen is still the way to go.

Sorry I have been a bit quiet on here lately, I find myself more interested in what you guys have to say, and often agree so closely it barely seems worth labouring the point!
However...
I have posted a quick review (or a de-brief as the Corporal may call it!) on the Surrey page, let me know your thoughts.

''Brain who plays like a snail'' - Carrot.
Think you may be onto something there, Carrot.
Brain is an anagram of Brian. If memory serves me right, Brian in The Magic Roundabout was .... a snail!
Corporal - do you want to take these bizarre thoughts on? You must remember Brian Brain of Worcs?
Sorry folks - disappointment and a few jars clouding rational thought ....

Guildford - what have you been drinking
I certainly do remember Brian Brain - I assume he is still the only player who is an anagram of himself.....
