Has Vince messed up with this one.....?
Ok, so the feud has been played out pretty much perfectly. But I think he might have made it a little too good.... and here's why:
Punk is almost certainly leaving after tonight's PPV. He's said he's tired and needs a break, both on RAW and in his interview with GQ. Vince has said it, most notably with regards to Punk's 'Homo' comment in Australlia, and in relation to GLAAD's anti-bullying campaign, and apparently GLAAD has to be kept quiet to keep Mattel happy.
So, they send Punk out to start building this storyline, and he doesn't just pull it off, he pulls off one of the best promo's in years. So much so, that as he pointed out, WWE's being mentioned in mainstream media, and even on proper sports shows here in the US.
My question is, did Vince expect such a reaction?
I think he's forced himself into a tight corner here, and he might end up disappointing not just the fans and the IWC, but some casual and potential fans that would have heard the hype around the match and thought they'd give it a go, either by watching the PPV or catching up with it on the internet. And if it ends as I sadly think it will (A Cena win, with or without interference) then there'll be a lot more people farting on the result than just the IWC.
So, given the expectation that Punk really is leaving - either taking time off or disappearing (God I hope not), what can Vince do to rescue this huge opportunity that he (I think inadvertently) has given himself?
Thought please......!

If Punk is leaving the one way Vince can capitalise on the buzz surrounding this storyline would be to rehire Colt Cabana and then align him with the Kings of Wrestling. This would allow them to do an outsiders/indie's gimmick as well as open the door for Punk to return as part of their group.
I'm guessing he could also try a corporate gimmick but which babyface could go up against it for a successful storyline, Cena? Honestly i could not watch another storyline like that there have been many before and with better babyfaces than SuperCena.

I actually think if Punk doesn't leave, even if it's only for a few months we have been slightly cheated. CM Punk has put himself across as somebody who wants everything, and it's obvious that he's not going to get that, so it only makes sense for him to take some time off-screen. There is no way that Punk will turn heel in Chicago, so I think the only option for him is him to leave for a while, which I think he will do.
I think Vince did predict the reaction to the promo as you have got to remember that the Raw that was "next week" after the promo was actually taped that very same night, yet they were promoting the promo as this HUGE event, so WWE obviously expected the reaction IMO.

The promo for the match is amazing, never has a build up and pre-match promo got me as intrigued, excited and potentially majorly disappointed afterwards as this.
