Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Easy answer.
You English claim to be the God's gift at all sport, yet you aren't. Fact.
English media bums the national teams, and every Tom, Dick and Harry believes them.
LeBron's Homie: I think you'll find the people posting here have made no such claims. There undoubtedly ARE such idiots, just as there are idiots in all countries. But what has anyone posting here done to deserve your anger?

But guys seriously lets just get this back on topic and stop acting like little girls, if someone makes a comment you don't agree with please respond with a good well thought out response, rather than just lowering the tone with a stupid comment just designed to get a bad response.

Why wait so long for play to commence if the pitch has been deemed fit to play on??

I really don't know why it's half an hour. Fifteen minutes, yes, but does it really take half an hour to prepare? (I suppose it might)

I'm sure you don't need me to remind you that this is for debate, not hostilities, name calling or slanging matches of any form.
Let's carry on the same vein that has been achieved for most of the day and more importantly enjoy what is going to be a fascinating series.
I hope this is the last time I have to address any disharmony on this thread.
Cheers,
Sainty.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
I understand that hodge but they announce a pitch inspection 20minutes before doing it. Thats plenty of time for the players to get read so if they then give the ok, they should be down straight away to minimilise the loss of play.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
such a shame for the weather to end play so early.
I think Eng would be happy to be only two down after getting put in here. Lords is always at it's worst early up in those conditions. Surviving was key.

Forecast tomorrow morning seems to be sunny intervals, light cloud and slowly rising pressure.

Sainty: Chuckle. Goes with the territory, I suppose. But I hope you won't be too hard on cricketfan90. He's only a lad.
The England of ten years ago might have weathered two sessions like today's.
But they'd promptly have lost four wickets tomorrow morning. Will this England?

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
well to be seen at any rate cf, will definitly be a tough test for them, however if swing is as condusive as it was today Kumar could still be a handfull, they will probably try and operate with a seamer at one end and Harbajan at the other.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
There is still alot of cricket left to play i feel. This test is still winnable for both sides.
Massive effort from England today to be only 2 wickets down and again Trott is looking every bit a proper test batsman.

Trott again showing why he is one of the best today, a let of with the drop despite being a tough chance, but he capitalised well which is what england needed

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Yet again, the atrocious weather won the day!.
England's day otherwise, would have been India's had they held their catches. Dravid, one of the best slip fieldrs ever, has been missing a few in the last few years, and may its time India start to think about it a bit.
The most important concern for India though is the fitness of Zaheer Khan. He was absolutely brilliant throughout the day, such a shame he had to go off the field.
Cook had to have a low score at some point, and he got a good one from Zak. Strauss undid all the hardwork through a very silly shot, although Zaheer maintained serious pressure resulting in a terrible shot selection on the part of the England captain.
Trott, regardless of the 2 chances, batted pretty well, and looked more confident than anyone else.
Pietersen looked not so sure, but he's still out there, he still remains the big one India would look to get at the earliest.
If Zaheer is not able to bowl any longer, Harbhajan has to step up, and so is the case with ishant. Will Sachin have a bit of a bowl to use the swing available?

1-7 are blocked by excellent batsmen.
Maybe India's waterboy, buy Yuvraj would fight for that honour.

Ishant and PK are playing their 1st Test in England, so they'll be slightly nervous.cricketfan90 wrote:looks like india's attack are toothless without zaheer
PK bowled well and on anther day could've quite easily had 2-3 wickets.
Ishant was also poor in the 1st innings in Jamaica, but once he found his form, he was excellent. Same will happen here.

think that will depend if England allow him to settle, new day can easily mean new conditions, in which England may take the attack to Ishant, you can't know how he will react if this is the case. Of course England may just try and go the way they did today in which case he may find his rhythm so will have to wait and see.

He was finding rhythm just as the rain came, the more he bowls the better he gets.hodge wrote:LeBron's Homie wrote:Ishant and PK are playing their 1st Test in England, so they'll be slightly nervous.cricketfan90 wrote:looks like india's attack are toothless without zaheer

Raina is a flair player, so no Trott would've get it in place of him.cricketfan90 wrote:LeBron's Homie wrote:Where exactly would be bat?eirebilly wrote:Trott would walk into any team in the world right now, including Indias great batting team.

we wont slog him around, but he can be very incosistnet and if khan's injury proves to be bad, then a lot of pressure is then on kumar

ok say hyperthetically Kumar starts leaking a few runs tomorrow morning (suppose to be more sunny, so conditions will be at least a bit different) will India want to keep him on? more than likely not, so more pressue would be on Ishant and he could. there is a chance that he could become inconsistent.
3 main bowlers will strain india, especially in the 2nd innings.

Although I'm being horrible, I would love Sachin to be out for 99 in this test to a shocker of a LBW decision.
