Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Yeah I was being deliberatly obtuse there. The point is Kumar clearly has a a problem with running on the pitch. I dont think its a deliberate ployt to rip the pitch up.

Bit of cloud bubbling up now. Still lovely though. I can hear the murmer of Lords over the radio commentary.A distant hum like the sound of bees in a quiet garden.

Ok, i see now Peter lol.
Its getting to be a real issue with him, i know he is new to tests but this is no excuse. He really should know better and Dhoni should be having a word in his ear.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Hmm. Pietersen worked very hard for that. Not sure about the catch cos I'm listening not watching, but sounds like bad luck Dravid you deserved that one.
Really hoping Bell can get a big 100. Rate his talent very highly and he finally seems to be delivering on it.

There will be hell to pay form the India supporters over that .....

Trott is the only English batsman that looked relatively at ease with the Indian bowlers.

I gather the Indian bowlers are demonstrating the virtues of line and length.

Chuckle. One of the joys of a Pietersen innings when you are listening is the sense of incipient heart attack among the commentators, seasoned pros and cricket watchers to a man, and NONE of them have a clue what Pietersen will do next.

Who thinks Pietersen was out? I think Dravid caught it dropped it and scoped it up all a couple of inches off the ground.
Thankfully that rush of adrenaline Pietersen seem to have has gone.

Much better from England. Good session so far. Shame to lose Trott but KP and Bell are playing nicely together.

217-3 at lunch. Solid, unspectacular session to England. Still looking for 600.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
I think a positive team would be looking for that sort of score. Still very possible, imo. The talent is there and the foundations for something around there solidly laid. If England want to be the no 1 team they have to do that sort of thing. Regularly, too.
Bat 'til tea tomorrow and give India a tough last session with no chance of winning the game.
But cricket is cricket, and we all know England could be bowling an hour after lunch!

Good session for England promising even better in the next two hopefully.
Little bit dismayed that only 98 overs scheduled for today. I want to see as many lost overs made up over over today and the weekend.

Everyone complains that India object to the ball tracking system, yet a simple catch isn't given by a clueless umpire.
The standard of poor umpiring is the only reason UDRS is needed.

PMSL cowshot, dont say things like that or they may come true. Lets hope that England dont collapse.
600 is still a long way away but with these conditions it is still very much a possibillity. A lot depends on the weather still though. If England get 500 and the weather turns cloudy and induces swinging conditions, i would'nt be suprised if Strauss declared.
All ifs, buts and maybes though

England get 600?
Who you all kidding?
India without the masterful Zaheer, and England can still only score 90 in the first session on a flat road.

Exactly, a proper ball tracking system and 3D camera technology could have made a clear decision on the catch.
Youre very biased to say it was a clear catch though, the fielders umpire and review officals werrent certain it was a catch. How can you tell it was a clear catch if the review official cant?
There is technology in existance that could have made a convincing decision.
It was wrong to say its an umpiring mistake. The umpire in this case had no way of seeing if it was a clean ctach so asked teh 4th umpire to review. Looking at the review he couldnt see any clear evidence it was a catch. Benefit of the doubt where theres no convincing evidence, without the reveiw system the same thing would have happened. With 3D high resolution high frame rate cameras and ball tracking we MIGHT have had a different decision, or we MIGHT have had clear evidence that it was grounded.
When it comes to lbws the same applies. You will get more evidence to base the decision on with it than without it. And the better the technology used the better the information the umpires have to base their decisions on and the less whinging there is on borderline calls.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
stellar: We'll be lucky to get the full scheduled - showers forecast for the final session. Possibly thunder, typhoons and rains of frogs.
eirebilly: And don't we just love those ifs, buts and maybes!
Lebron's Homie: According to the commentary I am listening to, India's bowlers demonstrated the virtues of bowling good line and length. But we are still batting and Pietersen, almost unbelievably, is still there. I'm quite sure that the England side will be looking for a score like that and believe thay can get it.
We'll see over the next few sessions. The whole question of will we? won't we? is why I watch the game.

Pietersen is a cheat and even if he gets a hundred its tainted.
He clearly saw Dravid take the catch and refused to walk off.

Didn't see great umpires the Dickie Bird and David Sheppard make silly mistakes.Peter Seabiscuit Wheeler wrote:LeBron's Homie wrote:Everyone complains that India object to the ball tracking system, yet a simple catch isn't given by a clueless umpire.

TMS were saying more 450 for a realistic target if things go well. 600 seems unreachable against number one in the world.

I have to agree with wumly that he has technical issues.I don't agree that they all do mind but he does.

Looks like more of a storm brewing on here than at the test. I hope the frogs keep off if a few landed on Harbies turban he 'll over balance and that will be no good for his temper.

kp hasn't looked ok since ball one. It's amazing he's still there. Bell, on the other hand, is quietly accumulating. Gosh he's a beautiful player. I can see that just listening to the commentary.

Yep. I can't actually think of a previous innings of his like it - he's either got big runs or been out by now.
