Agree on Bell. To call him technically inept is to have no idea about batting.

The standard of poor umpiring is the only reason UDRS is needed.

Exactly, a proper ball tracking system and 3D camera technology could have made a clear decision on the catch.
Youre very biased to say it was a clear catch though, the fielders umpire and review officals werrent certain it was a catch. How can you tell it was a clear catch if the review official cant?
There is technology in existance that could have made a convincing decision.

It was wrong to say its an umpiring mistake. The umpire in this case had no way of seeing if it was a clean ctach so asked teh 4th umpire to review. Looking at the review he couldnt see any clear evidence it was a catch. Benefit of the doubt where theres no convincing evidence, without the reveiw system the same thing would have happened. With 3D high resolution high frame rate cameras and ball tracking we MIGHT have had a different decision, or we MIGHT have had clear evidence that it was grounded.

When it comes to lbws the same applies. You will get more evidence to base the decision on with it than without it. And the better the technology used the better the information the umpires have to base their decisions on and the less whinging there is on borderline calls.

Didn't see great umpires the Dickie Bird and David Sheppard make silly mistakes.

Money has gone to these modern day umpires heads

You obviously didnt see Dickie Bird much then, he was a law unto himslef and didnt believe in lbws. Hawkeye showed a lot of umpireing which was based purely on rules of thumb and myths was incorrect.
Its also shwon that most, even marginal, calls umpires now make are correct. Even "the problem" Harper had a 96% correct call rate against India.

Zaheer suffered an ankle injury towards the end of the IPL, therefore he wouldn't have been training for the past 6-8 weeks.

Then why play someone who's had little preparation time? You need a team that is fully fit, something he wasn't. Wasn't like he got much action at Taunton either.

Very questionable by India, in my opinion.

needs a good 6 weeks of cricket to get fit and then come back. probably needs a few weeks for the hamstring first though.

Because hes by far their best bowler, and they knew Strauss has trouble with him. Till he pulled up it looked a no brainer, even short of game time he was pretty lethal in those conditions.
But yes a poor decision to play someone short of fitness and not fully recovered.

The player had to front up if he wasn't right. Fletcher would not have gambled. Perhaps getting his name on the board was more important than a team victory?

Kumar defiantly a good pick for this tour, hes still been getting that swing today. Its nice to see a comeback for classic medium pace bowling. The attack would have good balance if it werent for Zahers injury.

I think that he honestly felt that he knicked that.

Big test for Prior. Its importnat for him to stay in here for when the frontline bowlers get tired. If he can get in hes capable of realy punishing the part timers, but Kumar is still looking threatening right now.

Interesting discussion on TMS that Morgan should have reviewed the catch.

Yep. Talk on TMS is that he just messed up and perhaps didnt understand the rules, or maybe he felt it was so clear he hadnt hit it it just didnt dawn on him to ask.
Either way both the umpire and Morgan made a mistake there.
