Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Tendulkar and Dravid at the crease with Tremlett and Broad blasting in: Indian Kings fending off the pretenders to their throne. The game poised on the head of a pin and a full house at Lords humming with tension and glued to every nuance of the game.
It don't get much better than this.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Thank you dyrewolfe and trebs.
Much too lazy I'm afraid. Prefer to be an amateur and just play.
Well, that's it for the morning. What a session! Just flew by.
Haven't even thought of a verdict. Honours even? If we'd got one of these two it would be England's session, and if they'd only lost one wicket it would have been India's.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Broadys back among the wickets brilliant news. Tendulkar and Dravid is a big partnership if England can break it early we could see India bowled out for around 300.
Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Tuffers says the England bowlers have raised their game for Tendulkar...
..who has just played and missed...then four and I could hear the class from here.

Whens Swann gonna get a bowl?
If I was Strauss I would have opened with Tremlett and Broad, Anderson hasn't looked very convincing

Hindsight's a wonderful thing...
Don't expect we'll see Swann until the evening. Over before tea, maybe.

Must be getting near the time for our #1 spinner. Tendulcar looks very determined to get his first 50 at Lords.
His batting partner dravid is less convincing but scoring ' ok '.
Oh here he comes now.......

Swann earlier than I expected. Makes sense with this partnership developing (thoughtless prediction from me).
Now, is there rough for him? Some talk of Kumar running on the pitch in our first innings.

Swann coming in with his 'pies' and getting some spin. Encouraging signs.

How many of us would have dropped Broad for this test?
I certainly was advocating dropping him for bresnan, though more than happy that I am being proved wrong.

OMG!!! Tendulkar gone for 34! Than man Broad again!
Nice work too from Swann for the catch. MASSIVE wicket for England.
Game most definitely on now.
Anyone else noticed Master Of The Late Cut is conspicuous by his absence?

@LivingInItaly:
I admit I was all for dropping Broad...but lets face it, he hadn't really done anything noteworthy for a while.
Just glad he's rediscovered his mojo...
Ooooohhhhh. As I type this Strauss drops a great chance off Laxman.
Stuart Broad is absolutely on fire right now!

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Tendukar's gone! Hurrray! Boo!
Broad again. Very well done him.
There is no bigger wicket. Now it's VVS.
This is already a better day for England than I had feared it might be. It's been noticeable in both innings to date that wickets seem to fall at regular intervals!
OMG! Hope that isn't a desperately expensive miss from Strauss.

Strauss inconsistent with his fielding, annoying but no surprise for him to miss a regulation catch.

@eirebilly:
I was just thinking that. I think I'll have a little more respect for the selectors now.
Gawd! Another dropped chance - Dravid this time!
Come on England get your act together! We could (should) have had 5 wickets by now...

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Another one of our weak fielders misses a tough chance.
I feel sorry for Broad as he's bowling well. Strauss error not having the extra slip in. 2 big chances gone....

Well, if we lose this game we have two good reasons why in Broad's last over.

At least we are MAKING chances. Two drops in an over is an aberration. If we keep making them, they will stick.
But really, what a time for an aberration. Tsk tsk.

Are the slip cordon perhaps a couple of yards too deep?

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Indeed Cowshot.
Everyone makes mistakes, but 2 mistakes of that magnitude in such quick succession...you just get the feeling they could cost England dearly.
If India were 169-5 now, we could have been looking at a very healthy 1st innings lead.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Dravid AND Laxman. ouch ouch ouch ouch.
And in Broad's mind is that he has taken five and isn't on the board...
It will take a bit of character for England to pick themselves from something like that, and just get on with it. Hopefully, Jimmy will notice Broady pitching it up and have blistering spell in his turn.

Patient, solid 50 for Dravid. 111 balls but 10 boundaries. Doesn't like running, does he?

Lively home crowd for India here.
Well I assume they're playing at home and England have a trickle of fans who've visited by the lack of noise from the soporific Lords crowd..

YEEEESSSSSS!!!
Tremlett gets Laxman! He goes high and this time Trott takes the catch!
Broady will feel a tad aggrieved though.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Important to get Dravid as he's holding their innings together.
At least this shows that Englands attack is not as poor as that wum was saying the other day.
well obviously it wasn't.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Whoa!
Swanny traps Raina lbw first ball!
Some doubt but no referrals allowed with lbws. Hawkeye says it would've hit, so good decision by the umpire.
England must be sensing they're in the ascendancy now. Still, with Dravid still there and Dhoni coming in, its by no means all over.
