Re: England vs India 1st test debate
it is cowshot, we've been showing signs for years of having that horrible "90's" tendency to collapse like children under any pressure at all.
India have foundhow poor we are, we won't get another chance in this series.
all my worst memories flood back.. god i hate our mentla weakness.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
What gives?
I go and watch the build up to the German GP and England's innings fall apart!!!
All together now... "TYPICAL BLOODY ENGLAND".
Though to be fair it seems as though KP and Trott were got out by good balls, rather than giving their wickets away. Fair play to India for fighting back.
Match swinging India's way, you feel...

Crikey !!!!! Whats happening today ? Strauss got out to a poorly executed shot but I wasn't expecting this collapse after. Plenty of life in the pitch still it seems.....
So indias target will be a lot less than predicted

Quick! Send trebs sedatives! I think he's got the rope over the beam and the chair ready. (smiley hypodermic needed)
We can rely on eirebilly's support to make sure Eoin Morgan will save the situation. Not that I'm setting him up or anything.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
not so much in the pitch.. just a balls up from england.
couple of good balls, much poor concentration.
anything less than 400 would have smashing tenders licking his tiny lips. easy win for india this.

Defo India's session that one. An absolute nightmare from England. Lots of work to be done now to get into a good position

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
Well, at least we're still there at lunch, with real batsmen at the crease, just. We can regroup and set up mentally for the afternoon session. There's still a lot that can happen yet.
But by golly Sharma has dragged the game India's way all of a sudden!

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
There's not too much in the pitch - certainly no more than in India's first innings, but this session has shown it's not flattened into a road, there is a bit if you put the ball in the right areas and there is also a bit of turn, so Swann could come right into the game.
There was always the danger that this match could fizzle out into a draw if England were to bat on too long and India just blocked, but this session has really put the cat amongst the pigeons. More likely that we'll see a result one way or another now. A few years ago I would have been seriously worried, but I think we've got enough in our lower-middle order to dig out a decent score and our attack is good enough to dismiss this India line-up. We'll have to play well from here, but we do have the runs on the board. I'd still just about back England to win this one, especially as Sehwag isn't playing and Tendulkar is struggling with illness.

cricketfan: chuckle - I reckon this Test deserves a choir of fat ladies or a rave (or whatever it is these days) to signal its end. Been fantastic so far.

If these two can hold it together this session then its not all doom and gloom for England.

Guys, I'm watching TdF now... this is bigger than the Ashes, lol.
The key is to be nice and relaxed... and not want for miracles (I didn't do that for the Ashes...)

The saving grace is the almost 200 run lead we started with. We'd want something around 400 at least.

The lead is now 286, Indias 1st innings score. Lets hope that England can get another 80runs at least.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
how are conditions due to be tomorrow?
a cloudy day and a pitch getting just a bit of wear would make it interesting.
flat and it's indias win.

Re: England vs India 1st test debate
true, he is showing them the way.
the only saving grace is that they have a few runs behind them already.
if they did get a few more then the bowlers would start to get a bit of encouragement from this hammering.

Another 100 runs will be more than enough to see Enland with a total that India wont chase

oh well match lost.
we seem determined to give wickets away and make average bowlers look great.

100 Billy?
they won't get 10 more.
useless.
they declared too early and then batted like children to give India an easy win.
that's why they'll never be best in the world.. mentally weak , always have been.

Its already a very defendable target. I just wanted to see more runs so that England could be sure.
