Re: Ulster squad additions
So, not really "abuse" in any shape or form? A suggestion to geoff that 3rd-hand information from a player not selected on merit and not having his contract renewed might not be the most reliable?? Impressionable/very passionate - oh hang on, that's supposed to be me apparently. I give in. Let's move on, clive, I'm certain you've more interesting things to discussclivemcl wrote:I had no problem with anything you said until this:i just think you should be careful here - there are some impressionable followers of your club on here that seem to treat what you say as gospel, and this looks to me like a made-up story to justify Jon Andress not being kept on at Exe
I maybe get a bit hyped up on certain things, but i don't think I've ever accused anyone of misleading people with made-up info. I also haven't labelled sets of fans on here as impressionable.
Besides, what would it matter even if I or other Ulster supporters did believe Exeter preferred some players for non-playing reasons. Its not a huge issue over here in NI. Apart from maybe Pete330v2 might decide not to buy a shirt after all.

It's ok for geoff to make insinuations based on third-hand information about another club about which he knows very little, but its "abuse" when I pick him up on it? Have a think about what your response might have been if the show had been on the other foot. Try againBelfastNI wrote:I hope Geoff is coming back after the abuse he got above. I look out for his posts because 9/10 times he's right.
I hope we haven't lost our best poster over bl**dy Exeter!
Try again? I log on here to find out info on Ulster. Geoff has proved to be the most reliable poster in terms of supplying that info, so I hope he hasn't packed it in because he and another poster had handbags over an issue involving another club I don't care about, where either one of you could be right.
All very selfish but I'm just saying it as it is...

Guys!!!!
Is any of this really worth losing a very valued poster?
Really?
Is there any way we can resolve this so we can all enjoy each others' contributions even when we don't agree with them?
Please?
Just seems the daftest reason to lose someone from here.
I wish Eirebilly were well enough to post. He'd have this sorted and everyone laughing again quicker than you could say,
"King Billy played for the Cheifs in a skirt!"

Hopefully Geoff will see the light and return. I enjoy chatting rugby with him, he's a good egg. This thread has gotten a bit... dismaying. It needs some news!

Actually it needs to be locked, at least until there is an announcement by UR. That is unlikely to happen until Humph returns from holiday.

You could suggest as much to the mods if you want. If so I'll start a new one with stern rejoinders to remain on-topic

It's getting long enough that it could be locked soon anyway.
