Manziel is learning school yard football doesn't cut it in the NFL.

So the 49ers this season have done everything to defend nutcases like Ray McDonald and Aldon Smith, yet is doing everything to blow up its most successful coach in donkeys years

Yeah hes a pain in the ass to deal with.
But it wasn't Baalke's stellar drafting that turned the 49ers around. Nor Yorks strong leadership.

So, who is staying up for the Jags/Titans game?
Answer: nobody, you'll be asleep by the end of the 1st quarter.

I've been following NFL for years, watch all the Sunday and Monday night games and keep up to date with events on t'internet, but I couldn't name a single individual involved in the Titans franchise.
I appreciate they aren't setting the world alight, but how come they get so little coverage compared to the other teams challenging for the Number 1 draft pick?

I've wondered that too.
They are probably the least glamorous and covered franchise in the whole league.
May change if they stay #1 overall and grab Mariota.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Maybe it's because the rest have looked spectacularly awful at one point or another, and the Titans have just been generally not very good. Or maybe it's because they got rid of most of their big names in the offseason and Locker got hurt so early. Other than that week Mettenberger came in and got on the wrong side of Watt, I can't really think of anything that's happened to them either.Skyforger wrote:I appreciate they aren't setting the world alight, but how come they get so little coverage compared to the other teams challenging for the Number 1 draft pick?

Hah, I thought it as just me. I think TNF was the first time I've ever seen the Titans featured, they really are the most irrelevant franchise of all 32.

No-one can call a defeat quite like Jay Gruden and Jim Haslett. We've been diabolical in this 4th quarter. Have just stood aside and handed this game to the Eagles.
Someone has to tell Jim Haslett that Tight Ends are allowed to catch the ball - he doesn't seem to think Zach Ertz is worth covering.

Oops! Spoke to soon... good for our sake that Sanchez is still Sanchez.
Surely that's the Eagles playoff hopes over now? If you can't beat my miserable Redskins though then you don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
I thought this Eagles team was supposed to win the NFC East at a canter???

Frauds?
We're a good team, not a great team. Don't really think any thought otherwise.
Anyway the mistakes we made all season finally cost us. Penalties, turnovers, leaving Bradley ****ing Fletcher on an island against great WRs, dropped passes, dropped INTs. Can't keep doing that and expect to be playing into January.
Good for DeSean though, he gets to win his Superbowl.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Think the main reason people talked up the Eagles in the offseason is mainly because the NFC East looked pretty dismal. Of course the Cowboys confounded that belief but no one was expecting it. Need some corners. Sanchez has played reasonably well considering, a Qb upgrade would of course be useful but that goes for about 2/3rds of the league.
Chargers game was great, nice break out for Dontrelle Inman and Rivers rallied well late on. Niners got some pressure and he did well against it

I think you could make an interesting case that the Eagles offense has not been that potent this year. Middle of the pack in offensive DVOA and Special teams had helped them a hell of a lot. Just as a small comparison the Bucs and the Rams both put up 24 against the Skins. Both have anemic offenses.

Eh, shoddy ol play has been a big issue compared to last year. The OL just hasn't been healthy all year.
Plays have been there mind, Foles missed throws down the field, Sanchez never attempted them

Think the OL is a given. A shame injuries have largely been confined to one spot. But hey it's better than the Bucs OL which is probably the worst in the league. In other news the NFC South is still shoite, and Tony Romo is everyone with a brain has none for a while is a very good QB. I find it hard to evaluate Luck though. As much good as there is, he makes a lot of bad mistakes, some of that is him trying to compensate for a bad defence but some if it is thins you would think would have improved by now but haven't. A very good QB all the same

The NFC playoff picture is almost set. The Cowboys, Lions, Packers, Cardinals and Seahawks are in and that just leaves the NFC South.

Luck thinks he can make all the throws but he can't, needs to mature as a QB in that sense, as in January you just don't get away with those mistakes

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Realistically the main reason the Colts are where they are is because of him and a poor division. Missing TY hurt them big time yesterday (I apologise but "you can't spell Party without TY" etc, etc). I don't know if it's just an inability to make certain throws, think it's more bad decision making personally. He has the arm strength to pull off most, needs to refine it and get more precise though. He tries to do too much occasionally, and can put them in a hole. I'm assuming it's because of his draft position and because all things considered he does elevate the team, but he does seem to get little criticism, even when he plays poorly.

He's looked gone the last couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see what the Broncos do next year at QB if Peyton does call it a day at the end of the season? Will Osweiler be stepping up? Will they draft a QB? Could they trade/ pick up someone? Brees, Cutler, Orton, Glennon, Tebow?GSC wrote:Cant imagine Peyton will be back next year. Dalton only threw the one pick but man he made a bunch of bad throws, some near misses. Peyton has had a rough month or so, the AFC is really looking like the Patriots. Although for some reason if they played I could see the Steelers giving them a good game.

Agree about the Patriots. At this stage. I've got them vs the winner of the inevitable Packers vs Seahawks game in the NFC.Thomond wrote:Dalton only threw the one pick but man he made a bunch of bad throws, some near misses. Who knows though. The Bengals have broken their primetime curse. Another win next week on SNF against the Steelers.and.they'll be on a role. Super Bowl here they come.

Steelers worry me least of all the teams, Brady shreds that defence every time he plays them (and this is before you consider they're playing OAPs in the secondary now).
Still Denver the biggest threat, well actually biggest threat is injuries
