He probably cheated.
But as I said before, the Wells report was pure garbage, and the case was about whether the NFL had sufficient evidence to suspend Brady

I love the NFL getting a black eye. If Robert Kraft had Al Davis' balls he'd have sued the NFL too.
This opens up a big old can of worms though - Goodell seems so keen to have the FINAL SAY OVER EVERYTHING, and now a judge has made his final say irrelevant.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
I think the only thing this does in the short term is free up Brady to play week 1, and there are no more repercussions. Other NFL policies are already pretty watertight with the courts. However, it does give Goodell a black eye if only because it proves that he's not very good at the legal side/has bad advisors, and I'd say that gives the NFLPA a little more leverage in future negotiations. It won't affect Goodells own position now much, but hopefully it will help bring about a change at the top sooner rather than later.

Kraft Frak up majorly by accepting the team penalties, and in all likelihood if he'd gone after the league Goodell could've been in trouble.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
There's no doubt in my mind that Brady cheated, and I'm not sure that the Wells report was "garbage". The report concluded that Brady was "generally aware" of what was going on. The NFL asked Wells for his opinion on the matter and it concluded that, on the balance of probability, Brady knew what was going on. Not many of us would argue with that.
However, to issue a suspension on something that is probably true is ridiculous. Roger has a lot of egg on his face.

The NFL didn't ask Wells for his opinion on the matter. They paid him to produce a report that favoured punishing Brady.

Ironic that this claim is more spurious than the charges against Brady himself.

Considering a federal judge went on record about Wells being "independent" and he's being taken to court by the former OL coach for the report he did on Incognito, id say there's reasonable basis for that.

Matt Barkley has been traded to the Cardinals. That could turn out to be a good move for him. He is probably much more of a Bruce Arians QB than a Chip Kelly QB. It could also, possibly, open up a spot on the Eagles roster for a certain player called Tim Tebow.

In that he will probably get more time to develop. I think Chip Kelly is more of a 'win now' coach.

He had 2 years on the roster and 3 training camps...
In reality, he doesn't have a NFL calibre arm, and he just isnt good enough in other areas to compensate.

The Redskins being the gift that keeps on giving, will keep RG3 as backup. Cannot wait until he gets hurt and is guaranteed 16m next year

Barkley going is a strange one. Not a fit for a deep throwing offense. At best you could have seen him develop like Alex Smith, but that was a long shot. May happen but I doubt it, similar arm strength to Smith but none of the good sides of Smith's game.

Nope, Tebow gone too.
Skins keeping RGIII for now kinda makes sense. If he takes this as the sign it is, that he has talent but has to develop his QB skill set, he could turn this around. OTOH he may be good trade bait 2-4 weeks in if another QB goes down and someone gets desperate. And I refuse to pin all my hopes on Cousins anyway.

Accepting no penalties would mean that the Pats did nothing wrong. Clearly they did. Proving Tom Brady's involvement in it was the sticking point between both sides.
He's still guilty as hell even if we can't prove it.

Only 4 of the 8 players Pittsburgh drafted are on their 53 as Doran Grant CB picked 121st overall becomes the highest pick from this year's class to be waived/released

Pittsburgh openly coming out and saying they'll rough Gronk up at the line of scrimmage tells me they either haven't watched film of him or are just plain stupid.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
The NFL is returning to BBC television as part of a new two-year rights deal.
The deal includes coverage of Super Bowl 50 on TV, radio and online, while a weekly highlights show will run on BBC Two and online from early November.
Not sure if this covers a weekly game, but will include the 3 Wembley games live on Beeb 2.

Read somewhere that the highlights package may not start until mid-November anyway.GSC wrote:Doesn't have weekly games I think, just the highlights package (which is kinda irrelevant)
This news is rather paltry news covered up as 'great'.
This is a huge drop in live games on free tv from the 21 last year and about 38 a few seasons back.

I've still got no idea why channel 4 dropped it. What on earth they think will get more viewers at 1am on a Sunday night/Monday morning I dunno

Was it a case of Sky paying more or C4 actively dropping it?

If Sky paid more, then why is the NFL decreasing its audience? I'm guessing they hard need the money a UK tv deal would bring. Plus why not insist Sky show SNF and MNF free to air?
If Channel 4 didn't want in why are they only showing repeats of Come Dine With Me?
If I had to guess Channel 4 lost the rights to the Super Bowl and the International Series games and chucked their toys out of the pram over Sunday Night Football.

Channel 4 dropped it and told people via email BBC would have it. Then Sky announced they got it.

Yep - clearly sky jumped in once they heard channel 4 was dropping it and brought it.
No idea why channel 4 put so much into it last year and then just cut it all off...truly bizarre

At this point, would be surprised if JPP plays for the Giants again.
Mildly surprised if he plays more than 1 more season in the NFL.

Too much hassle trying to avoid the score to watch it at weekend. Prefer being able to forward through all the stoppages rather than watching live
