Vaughan? Decent 2nd option as spinner if they didn't want to include 2 spinners.

Joking aside, Bell's FC bowling record is not bad as far as it goes.

Collingwood was underused when he was in his prime, but then he mostly played in sides with 5 frontline bowlersso hardly suprising....but that in turn calls into question the England obsession with having 5 bowlers.
Tendulkars bowling average is below his batting average (Ok thats not that hard !)
Boycott has a really good ODI bowling average
Gooch used to underbowl himself, I remeber hing weighing in with a 3 for in a test once though and that was back whenany England bowler taking a wicket was a massive shock
Vaughn didnt bowl much because of his dodgy knees

I always thought Simon Katich bowled some decent chinamen. Could be a bit expensive, but definitely had the ability to take wickets.

Atherton used to bowl decent leggies, and as an age group player was considered an all-rounder. He, as with Vaughan, chose not to continue bowling as a serious part of his armoury.
I think it's easier now to take wickets as a part time spin bowler rather than a medium pacer - as a spinner you might bowl some loose stuff but can still bowl something that turns and bounces enough to trouble even a good player, whereas a medium pacer can be left alone or defended more easily.

Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag are quality parttime bowlers capable of getting test wickets. Sehwag was under bowled by most captains perhaps other than Anil Kumble. Tendulkar was best used by Azharuddin and Ganguly at crucial moments, but as age is catching up with his body, he hasn't been bowling much of late.
Simon Katich and Michael Vaughan also were quality partime options who sshould have bowled more.

I always felt Hick’s offies were better than England gave them credit for

To be fair Hick was used as the frontline spinner in a few tests, like Hooper sometimes was (has Gayle ever been?)

Sehwag must be a decent shout? IIRC he got a 5 fer against us Aussies back in 2008. But again he may not bowl these days due to his dicky shoulder,

Katich is the one that jumped out for me; he always seemed dangerous. I can't say he should have been bowled more, however, given the spin options that have been available to Australia.

Quite surprised that no one has plumped for Mark Butcher! Similar action and speed to Kumar and had a great run of form as a genuine swing bowler.
Re KP, he was signed by Notts as an off spinner originally, the batting came later on

I saw the 2 match India-Australia Test Series last year which took place before the Ashes.
And I must say Katich was turning the ball a lot lot more than than the frontline spinner Hauritz.
