London game is a go
It's official, the NFL just announced the game will be played on Oct 23 as originally scheduled.
So who is going?
So who is going?

I'll be there. Personally, I feel that we should do an epic 606v2 drinking session for all attendees.

I'm supposedly going to be back in the UK visiting family around then. My cousin is a recent American Football convert so wouldn't mind getting tickets for the both of us.

I'm trying to head over anyway if I can get a good hotel price. Might head over on Saturday as Leeds are playing Peterborough. It's around an hour and a half from London right?

Peterborough is about that far from Kings Cross, but can be a bit quicker as Peterborough is often a terminal for those trains so some are slow ones stopping anywhere (including my home town) and others breeze through stopping only at Stevenage and maybe one other.
That said Kings Cross to Peterborough can take a while... never done it as I've always gone by car to a much closer underground station.

Its just a registry of interest... from that you will get a password (garunteed I believe) to enter the ticket sales when it starts... this is there simply to stop people rocking up on the day and pinching the tickets from those who have known about it for months...
I imagine the window will shut just after they announce the sales date... sales will then be in two stages, password people can go on earlier (still 1st come first serve), with everyone else joining in a little bit delayed.

Does anyone know when the tickets will go on sale? Could do with knowing my university schedule before I buy tickets as there's no way I'd be back for the Monday.

I've registered three times with the same email. No way I'm not going to be there.

You just skip the Monday... thats what I used to do... now I have to take a formal days holiday... that's much worse!
Anyway. Club seats go on sale 1st September. Hospitality this week. Thompson Sport Game + Hotel tickets available now..
but what everybody wants (i.e. the general sale) is "to be confirmed soon"

I need to look at my finances, as my rent goes out at some point in October, and I would have to travel from Hull to London, which I doubt is cheap, but tickets for as little as £35 if I don't mind a potentially restricted view.crazy_dave23 wrote:Derbyblue wrote:Does anyone know when the tickets will go on sale? Thanks for that Thomond, can't quite work out what would be restricting the view, in the family zone.Thomond wrote:http://www.wembleystadium.com/TheStadium/ViewFromYourSeat.aspx Derby, that might help show you what type of view you might have. Anyone here been to Wembley before?
I've been to Wembley twice in the past two years but not for the NFL games.

I'm looking forward to it anyway. Have wanted to go to Wembley for a while(if Leeds had got to the playoffs last year!) and have never been to an NFL game so should be good.

Re: London game is a go
Restricted view are (for NFL games) tickets near the bottom of the tiers where, due to the teams and equipment being all down each sideline, you may have things partially in the way.
They block off the lowest rows entirely because of this
Its a great atmosphere having been each and every year. Definitely worth going if at all possible.
Derbyblue... I reckon with "advance" fare tickets you could get from Hull to London at a decent enough price... could easily purchase trains now if you were serious. If your happy to be on the internet at the exact moment tickets go on sale it has always been relatively straight forward to get some... its not quite the Olympic rush!

Well that can't be any worse than some of the football grounds I've been too where if you're unlucky enough you may have your view of the goal blocked.crazy_dave23 wrote:Restricted view are (for NFL games) tickets near the bottom of the tiers where, due to the teams and equipment being all down each sideline, you may have things partially in the way.

Just looked at train prices, an "Off-peak return" is £100, though it's cheaper to get the two singles, does anyone know which train station would be the best option for being near Wembley, as I just put in London and it selected Kings Cross?

The actual station there is Wembley Park, though it's on two tube lines I think.

Thanks guys, hadn't though of searching Wembley. If I'm going from Hull to Wembley stadium, it says I have to leave on Saturday, as the only train on Sunday arrives at 6am on Monday.

Well then get a train to Euston or KK and then take a tube. Much easier.

For some reason neither of those stations have any trains going to Wembley on the 23rd. I'll have a better look at it next week after my holiday.

Re: London game is a go
they don't have "trains" going to Wembley... but there are numerous ways of doing an underground connection. Focus on getting anywhere in London (which will basically mean Kings Cross or Euston?) and the the tube is a few quid extra and can be sorted on the day.

That's what I mean Derby. Take the underground once in London.

I was assuming the underground tickets would have been available on the same site as above ground tickets.

Just buy the tube tickets once you get there. No need to reserve.
Can't believe a Channel Islander is advising an Englishman on rail travel. We don't even have trains here!

Pr4wn, that's an Englishman who has never bought an underground ticket how am I meant to know how to use the bloody thing? I can handle booking tickets for normal trains, just no idea about what stations to use in London.

Re: London game is a go
When you buy your train ticket, buy a London Travelcard (I think that's what it's called...). That'll mean that the train ticket doubles up as a tube ticket too.

Re: London game is a go
Derby - you have to go on a London Underground website to find them. Although there's literally one every 5 minutes. I grew up in London and lived there until I was 12.
Whenever I go to watch Chelsea I get the train to whatever station in London and just wing it on the tube. There's really no need to plan it.

Been to every game so far so won't be missing out this year.
I'll be a Bucs fan for the day.
Normally if the game is a biggie then we go for Club Wembley, but tbh this year I think we'll just go for the lower sidelines for this.
Monday off work as standard

Just nosing around the boards and thought I could help...
If you go into King's Cross follow the signs to the Underground -- Wembley Park is on the Metropolitan Line which runs from King's Cross so you don't need to faff around with changing lines everywhere. They have massive ticket offices all over the place in the station, you can't miss them, and tell them you need to get to Wembley Park and back on the same day and they'll get the cheapest ticket possible for you.
If you go to Euston you can get the Circle Line to Baker Street and the Metropolitan from there. It doesn't cost any extra for more changes, it's all based on zones so you can change all you like for the same cost.

Re: London game is a go
The first time I went I was sitting next to God 3 rows from the top for the dreary Dolphins game. Last year I was a bit further down maybe 15 rows or so for the 49'ers who I feel put a good show on with all the flags- it really created a home field advantage! I do feel though that the prices there are a joke- 3 cokes came to over a tenner last time!

Was just listening to Alistair Kirkwood, the head of the NFL UK, talking about the possibility of a 2nd game and a possible UK-based franchise.

2nd London game may be a good thing, UK franchise is completely unpractical and the sooner the speculation ends the better IMO

Should see if there's a long-term bet out there -- will there be a UK franchise by XXX date?

No mate, I dislike Wembley with a vengance.
Did the Giants/Fins game and enjoyed the uniqueness of the event but I prefer to go over to the States and watch a game - trying to find a way of getting up to Foxboro in Dec as I've never done there.
