Secret Bok Training Camp? Empty Secret Bok Training Camp?

If it was confirmed that this was true would that not land the Boks a hefty penalty for failing to name the strongest side available for the 3N?

They would need to be able to prove they are doing training and nothing that could be classed as 'rehab'. We all know what is happening but as was said in the article it is very difficult for these guys to 2nd guess medical opinions

I for one hope that is not the case, cause it would make a mockery of the 3Ns for the grail of the RWC.

Maybe they are doing light training to keep fit whilst recovering. Guess we'll find out on the home games when they're meant to be back.

Or maybe winning the cup does mean that much? It is hard I think on the bok supporters then if they have to watch 2 games when the bok side won't be the best possible.

You'd have to have detailed descriptions of what training they were doing. It would be expected that they'd do some general fitness and ball skills in order to facilitate a come back. Heavy duty contact work might be viewed differently.

Looks like a stoush between Mark Keohane and divvy....

Come on, we all know those Bok players aren't injured to the extent that 21 cant play! Thy are clearly doing this with the WC in mind and the stupid thing is divvy is trying his hardest to fool everyone.

Reminds me of the great Iraqi press officer who proudly announced there were no American forces in Baghdad

"De Villiers has relied on 20 very gifted players to mask his incompetence these past four years, and mostly the players have delivered through instinct and natural ability"

That is about how I feel regarding this.

Look where is the proof. This is media hype.

Like some said above, it is probably light training, although light training could provide them with much needed new tactics.

Perhaps that Divvy is smarter and stronger than given credit for. It takes a particular kind of focus and vision of the wider goal to allow yourself to be presented as the fool, but know you'll have the last laugh.

Is there an obligation on teams to name strongest available team? Should there be if there isn't? Would that mean that player rotation wouldn't be possible?

Yes there is an agreement that your strongest available team be selected. But they aren't available because they are training laughing

Good news if true. It means the core players aren't being coached by PDivvy. I suspect he doesn't know about it if it is happening.

Yeah, he is mostly unaware.

When asked what he was doing, he said "sometimes I sits and thinks and other times I just sits."

Hard to imagine anyway, how a secret training camp would be better preparation for than playing rugby against the two other best sides in the world. Just saying.

There is an agreement that all 3 countries signed. This was done because of what happened in 2007. SA don't observe agreements though.

Rob, I thought we have established by now that PDv just sits and thinks. For 4 years now he has ignored criticism, you really think he is going to pay attention to a signed agrrement? Doh

Sure, but I don't really know what the governance is in SA. Doesn't he have to report to SA Rugby Board or something? Or is he a law unto himself? I would have thought their board knows what is going on and they have endorsed it. Which is pretty sad.

I may be wrong, but I think the board accepted the proposal as they want or currently have a win the cup at all cost mentality.

It must be high on their agenda for a non white to coach the boks to a RWC, and if the best way to do it is to have fresh players, bearing in mind we're playing 3Ns till l2 weeks before, then for this one they will.

The boks do have a realistic chance of a back to back win, as I think have England to win it this time, and obviously the kiwis, but I think this year for the boks to win it with a non white coach will be their main goal.

My 2c worth

You could say in 2007 not fronting to the 3N SA won the world cup as NZ and Oz, who did front, lost.

But was that because of the 3N? Can't see the relationship between that and the Oz NZ losses and in fact if anything NZ were undercooked from not playing enough tough matches.

Trying to see both sides of the SA argument but I'm struggling...

From pdv on the AB site:
"While South Africa didn't want to remember the loss to Australia for too long, it had been noticeable that the lack of experience in the side had affected the performance and the leadership available to achieve some composure in the side.

"I hope that one weeks experience will be enough for them to stand up for us," he said."

Geeeeez...one weeks experience...at least he'll get one wish...

they won't have to remember the loss to Australia for too long. About 9.05pm Saturday night I think the Oz loss will be well and truly forgotten... censored

The article was from a NZ source so I imagine anything to kick up a stink.

I recall the moans when France brought their second and third string down a few years back and beat the AB's in the 1st test. The whinging disappeared overnight.

The article is actually sourced from South Africa. Saffer journalists have been hanging about outside the traing venue. Mark Keohane has outrightly criticised PDV and the bok management. It's not a NZ beat up story. I know you wish it was, as it seems you believe nothing but evil and vindictiveness comes from this country.

The moaning about France came about because NZ regularly sends relatively strong squads to the NH. People expect the reciprical. France promised it would, and then didn't (people felt let down). I'm sure this would be the same if it was the other way around. Again, you appear to believe that kiwis are below amoeba, but some balance would be nice.

Would have been happy to have had the full French side out here. I'd rather see the AB's lose to a full French side than beat an understrength French side. That's the whole point. The issue with that tour was a result of a series of tours by understrength sides. For that reason the NZRFu sought and recieved an assurance from the FFRU that a full strength side would tour.

Welshjohn you have such a short memory. It was a strong French side, and it was the ABs who played a weak team. The year France brought a second side they were completely walloped.

A strong french side with Julian Dupuy at SH? It was a mixed bag French side..but yeah 3rd choice side is a massive exageration

It was a weak NZ side too, but the strongest they had available.

I think the real point though was like most summer tour matches it was a bit of a joke. The only ones that really count are the world cup ones kiss
