Gee, that is a little insensitive, there are 43 million or so south Africans to think about.
You have just hurt my feelings.
I'm sorry, but I just couldn't bear either of those clowns winning the ultimate prize. It would devalue it for me.

I've gone for France, because if they were to win the RWC;
- it would be their first rwc
- it means there will have been upsets in major games (NZ beaten in NZ, Oz/Eng/SA defeated at various stages)
- there will have been attractive rugby throughout the tournament

Right I've removed the posts that are just carrying on the argument (and those trying to defuse the situation as they made no sense on their own). Stay on topic guys. It's not hard. You keep fighting on this thread and I'm locking it permanently. Thanks

Thanks rugbydreamer.
So concensus seems to be France then. Ouch. That'd probably mean they'd need to beat the ABs twice. Not sure I'm so happy about that.

Bath, your comment was deleted but I don't think many have said they hate England. There is a bit too much Irish discussion in here to be honest. It can be a bit of overkill. Suppose it fills the lull of the off season. The club season is back in a month or so!
Anyway I voted the Aussies, not really sure why it just happened.

I am surprised not the kiwis, I have always thought they were everyone's fav 2nd side.
I still don't think the French can string 2 hard batches together. Twice they've played really well to beat the kiwis, and next game they were pants.

Well, change in refereeing interpretations. They've invariably gone from a NH to a SH referee. Or to a good referee from an unfit pasty one eyed blind, erm, referee.

I'm liking the Wallabies being installed as favourites/crowd favourites.
Last time that happened, NZ won the tournament.
I feel that having the next door rivals bigged up beforehand might just lend the breathing space and focus required.

Prob cause a lot of people on here are English so they can't be voting England? I guess that must be it.
Then they must have voted France.

I guess the next question is: If your team gets knocked out, do you want their victors to go on to win it or have their pants pulled down in their next match for sweet payback?

Re: If your team fails to win the RWC who would you like to see win?
Because there was no need to live in a realistic world on this one I went for the Italians. I'd love to see either them or France (far more likely) win. I think someone else mentioned non-English speaking being important and I kind of agree. I want rugby to go world wide and to do so we could do with a non-English speaking team winning. Argentina would therefore be good also.
I normally support Scotland when they're not playing England because I live here, so maybe they would be another choice.
I suppose basically my answer is "if not England then someone who hasn't won it before"

If Scotland mess it up then I'd be very happy to see Ireland do it. Could be swayed though by a team playing good open rugby, a sporting team that has always tried to play the game as I believe it should be, so maybe Japan. Not the USA, abuse at work would be too much.
Being practical if it is one of the SH giants then South Africa

So NZ, Aus, Ire and Fr do well, whereas Eng, Sco, SA and Arg don't.
I don't think there's anything more sinister to it than that.

Out of the one's likely to win it, I've gone for New Zealand. Just to stop all the choaking guff.

Awww
I voted for Samoa. I know it's a slim chance, but they play exciting rugby, and are a tier II non-English speaking country. Plus we may as well keep it in the family (though if GG had used the latter logic he might be the England vote )
Above all, if NZ can't win it I'd like it to go to a team that hasn't won it.

Englishman, happily living in Canada so voted for them although I know of course there is no chance. Being realistic wouldn't mind if Ireland do well for personal reasons and wouldn't be upset to see New Zealand either, as others have mentioned they have continually set and improved the standard of international rugby and deserve it. Enjoy watching France and SA as well so again wouldn't mind them doing well, especially as they both have incompetent fools as head coaches. Guess I'm really just forward to the whole thing to start.

voted for NZ not because they are my 2nd prefered team (would normally support NH teams and/or australia ) but because of the financial and political harship that the N.Zealanders would bear in case they dont win a RWC at home... think NZRU really needs that trophy and it's important for rugby full stop.

I voted for Samoa i know most likely they wont win but someone new needs to win it. Outside of that France being the most likely team winning it who have not already. Someone like Argintina, Fiji or Italy would be nice to but unlikely.

Depends on what style of rugby you like, I like up your jumper style, but I was a forward.
Imagine if Arg won it, would they go to the 6nations or tri nations?
I'd imagine the Tri nation would want them the most.

I'd pick Samoa as well. Have a lot of Samoan friends and this would do wonders for them as a nation. Their natural abrasive style is refreshing.

It would have to be the Irish. They are from the NH, they haven't won it before, I like their style of play and, contrary to what some on here have said, I find them all really down to earth who don't come on and gloat just because they may have removed your trousers and given you a good spanking (all figuratively speaking) at Murrayfield - yet again!!.
I've never been one to subscribe to the "anyone but England" brigade and would have no problem if they won although I might not read a newspaper for a couple of years or watch TV for 10 years until the press's furore had died down

Just finish Greenwood's book and he said they always got on best with the Irish squad and they were a really decent group. If England don't win a New Zealand Ireland final would be great.

Probably helps that he always won against Ireland. Though Greenwood seems a thoroughly decent character and probably gets on well with everyone.

Given the what the SA boys have brought to Ulster I wouldn't mind too much if the boks won but I'd prefer someone different...preferably Ireland of course . De villiers is a bit of a chump too so it's hard to imagine him being a WC winning coach although you certainly wouldn't begrudge the likes of Matfield more silverware.
