Congrats Brian!
Well done to Brian Magee for his terrific performance last night to win the WBA Intrim belt.
The 36 year old putting in a masterclass dominating Barboza with excellent bodyshots. The judges scored it 118-110, 117-111 and 116-112.
Great to see Brian who is an absolute gent, get himself straight back into the world title scene after his loss to Bute.
Not afraid to travel, and not afraid to fight anyone. I think he has great heart.
Best of luck to him!

Cheers. I was out last night and didn't do my usual check of Sky Sports to get anything recorded. I'll definitely check it out.

Confused how Barboza is deemed good enough to fight for even an interim title at super middleweight?

That's how these organisations work these days. Achievements at a weight class seem to mean nothing anymore. It is frustrating.

Fair play to Magee who's deserving of a fairly high ranking but that's boxing I guess.

Sky's boxing season has finished and will resume shortly so no fights for a while sadly... But well done Brian class guy.

Re: Congrats Brian!
People were talking about Magee as a next step for Groves a short while back, a step too far now perhaps? He needs to announce something interesting and soon, going off the boil a bit....

Magee still has too much at this stage, Groves could definately win maybe too risky just after Degale.

Agreed, so who do you think he should go for? I think he should be looking at a few fights in the top 10-20 bracket before testing himself against any top-level guys (still only 13 fights after all). Mendy, Bika, Pryor and maybe even Green are all tough old (30 something) pros that would be great experience for George but still win-able if he pulls out a strong performance.
