NY Islanders moving in 2 years? Empty NY Islanders moving in 2 years?

Post by HHealer Tue 02 Aug 2011, 6:09 pm

Looks like the Islanders will be the next NHL team to up sticks and go looking for a new home (unless Phoenix go before them!) A vote to finance the building of a new arena was voted down by the folks of Nassau County. The Isles have two years left on their contract with the current arena and if no new stadium is built in that time they will be on their way it seems.....

In short, no. It could all come to nothing if a new rink is built somwhere else on Long Island, but I have heard Brooklyn might be an option! The usual cities spring up everytime an NHL team is in trouble these days, such as Quebec, Kansas and Hamilton.
Click on the Bleacher report link below to see some of the cities looking for a team.
