So india's injury problems getting worse, youvraj is going to see a hand specalist over the blow he took during the 2nd test......

if he's ruled out then problems mount up for the indians

So Sehwag for Yuvraj.
Either Yuvraj or Raina was going to be dropped for the returning Sehwag anyway.

Shewag and Sachin can turn it a bit. Edgbaston is kind to spinners and with India down to the bones, England's chances are improving.

I wouldn't expect too much turn, Smile. It hasn't been doing a huge amount in the county games this year.

Wow if him and Harbajan are out that huge. Its a pity really, I would have likesd to see England tested by the full India line up.

They really have suffered from injuries, but the ones caused by being hit by aggressive bowling just show the Indians lack of basic technique against bounce...despite all the hype following the South Africa tour.

Who is the reserve spinner?

Mishra isn't it?
Perhaps they'll just go with 4 seamers (Khan for Harbi) and leave the spin to Sehwag, Sachin and whichever one of Raina/Yuvraj is picked.

True India has had it's injuries this summer but so have England what with Tremlett and Trott picking up injuries. The difference is that England have strength in depth to pick from as seen by the performance of Bresnan who replaced the injured Tremlett. They also have Finn waiting in the wings as double back-up but India just do not have that strength in depth.

Well common sense would have had Yuvraj in the side if theres no specialist spinner, but hes injured too.
Can you honestly see India going with Sehwag as their main spinner whne hes just back form a long injury? Raina was hopeless, they havent used Sachin at all to bowl this despite using 3 other part timers...suggestst they dont want to and hes hardly that effective anyway.
Could you imagine England going into a game with Pietersen as spinner?
I could just about see it if Yuvraj is fit, he wasnt good but look head and shoulders above the other Indian part time bowlers. 4 seamers means they shouldnt get into a position where they try to fiddle through 15 overs giving their 3 seamers a rest before the new ball only to find a hundred runs more on the board in that time. But you do need some kind of spin option available.

There's no way India can play without a specialist spinner. Zaheer's only just coming back from injury and may break down again, and the other quicks have already been overworked.

For all the talk of India's injuries, I don't think it's really been an important factor. Zaheer has a terrible fitness record, so that should have been taken into account. Sehwag's missed the first two tests, but doesn't have a great record in swinging conditions. Gambhir was injured in the first test, but was still okay to bat twice in that test. Yuvraj was injured because he can't play the short ball, so no real sympathy. Harbhajan was injured but was bowling badly anyway, so isn't much of a loss.

Well, Harby isn't much of a loss from the bowling side - I think his only wicket in the last Test was Broad caught in the deep, and otherwise he's been no better than the part timers. So far his only contribution to the series has been a slogged 50 when the match was already effectively over.

I want to see Sehwag play, so we can expose his limitations in the same way we have with Mukund, Laxman, Yuvraj, Raina and Dhoni. So far only Dravid has really emerged with much credit as a batsman (Sachin has been OKish, but hasn't produced a big score yet).

Zaheer's return is the one that could be trouble for England - he bowled well before breaking down in the first test, and should be a bigger challenge for the England batsmen than the current seam attack (Kumar being the one bowler to really emerge from these matches with an enhanced reputation, but he's not a match winning opening bowler).

I've also heard that Zaheer is still doubtful so still a bowling issue hanging over the Indian side

Zaheer has the potential but hes going to be short of even net practise as its still touch and go that he'll be fit enough to play. Also means his endurance could be down and he'll continue to be prone to breaking down.
Without a second choice frontline spinner and no good support bowling ( yuraj out) he cant be relied on to carry the attack single handed.
Sharma and the medium pacer looked crackered by the end of the last test, they clealry dont have huge fitness levels to deal with the workloads theyve had to take on. A week rest will help but I suspect theyll start to struggle again as well if England get set in.

Hey, we are going to play a Leggy guys!!!. I just hope all those nightmares caused by the blond leggy would revisit the English batters, and Dhoni would come up with some magic that would make Amit Mishra look like the Aussy champ!!.
