Tour Schedule
So you're a member of both Tours, you've won a major so you can play whenever where ever... Whats your schedule going to look like?
15 Minimum on PGA
13 Minimum on Euro
Majors and US based WGCs count twice... WGC HSBC only counts for Euro...

I didn't know that - that doesn't paint the PGA Tour in a good light, does it?

Re: Tour Schedule
Here's Mine,
New Year in Hawaii followed by
PGA: Hyundai Tournament of Champions
PGA: Sony Open in Hawaii
2 Weeks off
Euro: Qatar Masters
Euro: Dubai Desert Classic
1 week off
WGC: Accenture Match Play Championship
PGA: The Honda Classic
WGC: Cadillac Championship
1 week off
PGA: Arnold Palmer Invitational
PGA: Shell Houston Open
Major: Masters Tournament
4 weeks off
PGA: Players Championship
Euro: World Matchplay
Euro: BMW PGA Championship
1 Week off
PGA: St Jude Classic
Major: US Open
3 Weeks off (play some links golf)
Euro: Scottish Open
Major: Open Championship
2 weeks off
WGC Bridgestone Invitational
Major: USPGA Championship
2 weeks off
Lets take stock...
I've played 14 PGA Tour Events, 12 Euro Tour Events (19 in total) so 1 more each to complete the minimum....assuming i get into the playoff that see to my last 1 on the PGA with the possibility of another 3
PGA: The Barclays
PGA: Deutsche Bank Championship
PGA: BMW Championship
PGA: TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola
A minimum of 5 weeks off
(if knocked out of the Playoffs before the BMW, the i'd play the Dunhill Links in which case i'd have 2 weeks off, then the Dunhill Links, then 4 weeks off)
In any case a good break...
WGC: HSBC Champions
Euro: Singapore Open
3 Weeks off
Euro: Hong Kong Open
Euro: DWC
3 Weeks off then start all over again!
27 Events (Up to 18 PGA, Up to 17 Euro depending on PGA Playoff results)
So 25 weeks off... and could shut it down for the year after Barclays followed by Dunhill Links, avoiding the Asian Swing if so desired while still playing the minimum... if i was knackered...

Re: Tour Schedule
The biggest issue with any PGA tour schedule is if you don't make the playoffs then you have no choice but to play the fall series and if you do make the play offs it jeopordises your ET schedule as your PGA tour automatically shoots up to somewhtin like a 16-17 event minumum by purely qulaify for each round of the fed ex

Mav,
It's the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of Catch 22 - I think you've just captured Tim Flinchem's version of it!
Where are you going to be in Les Etats Units?

Re: Tour Schedule
It's Dim Finchems way on ensuring patronage of the PGA as it makes it harder for players to be anywhere but the US for that period.
Details to be finalised tomorrow Kwini once I have the info I shall let you know

Re: Tour Schedule
Tricky trying to figure out which events will be played when/where but:
US: Kapalua
US: Waialae
(or, if not qualified for Kapalua: Qatar, Dubai)
US: Riviera
WGC: MatchPlay
WGC: Doral
US: Transitions
Major: Masters
US: Harbour Town
US: Quail Hollow
US: Players
ET: Wentworth
ET: Celtic Manor
US: Memorial
Major: US Open
ET: Scotland
Major: The Open
ET: Ireland
WGC: Firestone
Major: PGA
US: Barclays
US: Deutsche Bank
US: BMW
ET: Dunhill
ET: Portugal
If I'm successful I'll be adding others, (East Lake, Dubai) but this assumes an average year. If I can't get into all these tournaments I shouldn't be trying two Tours.

Re: Tour Schedule
When you look through some of the proposed agendas above, I find it pretty amazing that players complain of fatigue etc that prevents them from playing both tours. After all, how hard can it be walking around a golf course that many times in a year?
You never hear top tennis players complaining about playing 4 hour matches day after day for 2 weeks.

Re: Tour Schedule
d4s,
But then it's only the very top guys who play many rounds, and they seldom play that many events and mostly avoid (the ridiculously scheduled) Davis Cup like the plague.
Off to see the boys in Montreal next week. Never seen Murray so hoping I picked the right session. Fabulous place to see all but the very top guys, a bit hit and miss for them, one of the year's sporting highlights pour moi.
