Canford Cliffs Retired
A shame to hear this news today but maybe gives an explanation as to why he under performed last week.
I suppose it will give some people the opportunity to say what would have happened if Canford Cliffs had been at his best v Frankel. I personally think Frankel would still have won but maybe not by quite as far.
Arguably Canford Cliffs greatest achievement will be in beating Goldikova I would think although my favourite memory of him will be his last gasp win in the Sussex Stakes last season.

Rewilding probably had something similar that went under the radar and led to his demise. It seems certain to help explain Canford Cliffs performance at Goodwood. Racing takes a lot out of a finely tuned thoroughbred and not all horses have the strength for long careers.

Maybe I'm just a cynic but I think this has more to do with Coolmore than any injury. Again maybe I'm to cynical.

I think Frankel 'broke' him and realising he had nothing to achieve bar maybe the Breeders Cup Mile and if he couldn't get back for that he was rightly and correctly retired.

Sporting that they kept in going as afour year old but it smacked of a knee jerk reaction to put him away after one defeat.Post race i thought Richard Hughes was very professional and gracious,i thought Richard Hannon was a spoilt brat.

Hannon was horrendous afterwards.
Lets not forget that Peslier put up overweight on Goldi when Canford beat him.
