Re: Super Rugby 2011 - Week 1 Tries
At last the rugby has begun downunder with a burst of brute force and some scintillating tries. Some great games in Round 1 of the SuperXV as seen in the video Grayditch.
A classic Blues-Crusader clash (Blues 24-22), a last gasp win by the Reds over the Force (21-20), the Waratahs in deadly early season form against the newly formed Rebels (43-0), a dogged win for the Highlanders over the much-fancied Hurricanes (14-9) and the Brumbies just holding out over a resurging pack of Chiefs (28-20).
In South Africa, the Sharks easily accounted for the Cheetahs 24-9 whilst the Bulls and Lions fought out a close one - Bulls winning 24-20. The Stormers had the bye.
It's still quite warm here in eastern Australia - very humid in the evenings still but the quality of the matches has been pretty high with not much dropped ball and grinding forward pack tussles mixed in with spectacular end-to-end stuff in broken play (for the most part).
It's going to be another successful season I believe and I'm looking forward to some more epic encounters.
