Tamgho triples to 17.91m World indoor record in Aubiere


Aubiere, France - Teddy Tamgho broke his own World indoor record* in the Triple Jump today (20) at the French national indoor championships in Aubiere.

The 21-year-old Frenchman leaped 17.91m on his fourth attempt, to add one centimetre to the record he set when winning the World indoor title in Doha, Qatar, in March 2010.

Opening with two fouls, Tamgho reached 17.35m with his third attempt before setting the new record in the fourth round. He followed up with a 17.58m leap before ending the competition with a jump of 17.08m.

Blimey what an amazing young man he is, will he top 18m in the Euro champs??

That was definitely a dazzling display but hardly unexpected from Teddy Tamgho as there has been a widespread feeling around that this would arrive sooner or later, and I sense he is going to improve on that in Paris with a good chance of reaching beyond 18m!
