Ronnie O'Sullian vs John Higgins the big debate
John Higgins and Ronnie O'Sullivan both became Pro's in 1993
Ronnie was the first to win a major by winning the 1993 UK Championships at the age of 17, however ronnie being ronnie he has always suffered with abit on inconsistency never took off as everyone has expected. John Higgins on the other hand is Consistency personified and he has been a regular winner in the 1990's and he won the race to become world champion in 1998.
Around the year 2000 John higgins appeared to take his foot of the gas and ronnie appeared to sort his inconsistency out and became the best player in the world from 2000 - 2008. however roles changed again and since 2008 Higgins has stormed the snooker scene like he did in the 90's
So Now Ronnie and John are neck and neck.
I have compiled some Stats together which i hope the good members on this forum use and create some great debate

They seem very equal

When discussing eras, what would be interesting is who would have won the most titles John Higgins or Steve Davis, both have a very similar and solid all round game. Higgins and Davis arguably the best tactical players of all time.

Gav that would be very hard, davis was a machine like hendry was. higgins however does suffer abit more

Higgins is consistent but O'Sullivan is ahead of Higgins - no question.

Higgins and O’Sullivan are equally capable of lifting this year’s World Championship. O’Sullivan has had such a poor season he may raise his game for the season climax. We all know how Higgins has responded since his return to the game and has still produced given his personal circumstances in recent months.
Higgins or O’Sullivan to gain their fourth title for me...

Consistency is essential to success but is there anyone amongst us who does not stand back in awe at genius on the rare occasion it shows?
'Better' is difficult when assessing any two people at the top of a sport. One is left with gut feeling versus logic. And in spite of the fact that these two protagonists have a similar tally, statistics can only say so much about that elusive thing we call talent.
