Elimination Chamber Results - Spoilers obviously!

A thread to talk anbout EC.

In my best Harry Hill - EC in a nutshell:

Miz Retains, Edge Retains.
Alberto beats Kofi with the armbar and later runs in and attacks Edge after the EC match. Christian makes the save.

Trish Stratus and Kelly Kelly have a fight with Laycool. Trish botches countless moves.

Raw chamber - Punk gets eliminated early due to a 'pod' malfunction. Raw GM puts him back in.
Order of elimination - Rtruth (by Sheamus), Orton by CM Punk, Sheamus by Jomo, Jomo by CM punk, Punk by Cena

New tag champs in the Corre.

I enjoyed it - Cole was fantastic throughout.

My EC review.

Del Rio v Kofi Kingston
Not the best match to start a PPV but did set the tone of what was to come. It gave Del Rio a win to build towards Mania though he desperately needs a better finisher. Kofi botched a couple as usual, he needs work if he’s going to step up to main event at any point. Personally I would have Booker T being his mentor and spokesperson, he lacks charisma which Booker could help with.

Backstage Edge & McIntyre
Edge has been lacklustre for a long while now, he just doesn’t seem to raise his performance anymore and looks bored most of the time, shows when McIntyre out promos him.

Smackdown Chamber
Firstly there’s the huge letdown of the ‘mystery’ 6th competitor. Everyone is hoping it’s Jericho or Christian, instead we get Big Show. Let down Vince.
Rey & Edge kick it off, big mention that the glass is really strong by commentators. Yeah so strong it’s made from perspex.
Barrett does nothing of note and is first to be jobbed, who’s he upset backstage recently to warrant this plummet?
McIntyre looked decent, bit more aggresive than usual and some decent moves. Kane and Big Show did the usual big men but offer nothing role, Show takes about 20 finishers to take him down.
Last two sees Edge and Rey still in, match drags out far too long with far too many kick outs and finishers involved. Decent end though with spear to Rey who was jumping from turnbuckle.
Del Rio then intereferes and a returning Christian makes the save to a pretty flat pop, don’t they know he’s the IWC’s darling? Sets up a potential four way at Mania (Edge v Del Rio v Christian v Ziggler)

Booker T in ring skit with returning star
Wooooo Trish is back, woooo she murders a Rock skit, crowd go from a decent pop to flat in seconds.

Tag titles
Brew break simply put, finally they get the titles off the comedy duo (though how Koslov is comedy I don’t know), possible Corre v Nexus tag title at Mania though that would be heel v heel so would need another pair in there.

Miz backstage promo
Well at least he didn’t mention Lawler’s mum this time. Apart from that it was run of the mill with catchphrase ending

Vickie in ring promo
She screeches a bit about reinstating Ziggler, Long interrupts and says he’s reinstated someone, Vickie thinks it’s Ziggler, everyone groans as Kelly Kelly then runs down to the ring and beats her up, save by Laycool who beat her down (McCool with strapped foot), save then made by Trish Stratus complete with 4 inch heels, botchmania goes on. Everyone hopes this involves Awesome Kong debutting, it doesn’t happen and instead fades out. Does the return of Kelly Kelly really warrant PPV airtime? They’re struggling to fill 3 hours.

Miz v Lawler
I just don’t get this match, how can Miz look good from whatever the result is?
One decent spot of Cole getting laid out, that’s it. Again this should not have featured on a PPV.

Cena skit
So the Rock tears strips of you Cena on RAW, owns you completely and you reply by eatting a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. Well that told the Great One.

CM Punk promo
Not the best Punk promo (and where are the rest of Nexus?), ends with the interviewer just looking awkward at him for a few seconds.

RAW Chamber
Much better than the other one but that’s not hard.
JoMo did a few decent spots though his main one looked botched, his stock rises day by day, the new HBK he isn’t but he’s possibly the new Jeff Hardy.
Sheamus owned Cena at one point but that was about it for him, he’s following Barrett into midcard obscurity.
R-Truth lasted 2 mins, no point at all, least he didn’t shout ‘What’s up Green Bay?’
Views are mixed on the planned Punk door incident, I liked it tbh and Punk then got a great clean pin over Orton, surprised thry had Orton just meekly leaving the chamber though afterwards, thought he was meant to be this gen’s Stone Cold?
And then the end.
So Edge v Rey gets 10 minutes.
Punk v Cena gets 10 seconds, couldn’t they have put on a show for a bit?

Conclusion
Frankly one of the lamest PPVs in recent memory, pretty much all the results were telegraphed. The skits were shocking. Finding it hard to think of positives from it.
Good bits...Punk as always, he simply is THE man at the moment, no-one comes close, JoMo continued to show off his skills, Christian return. That’s it.
Bad bits...where do I start. Trish’s promo probably sucked the worst but I could have picked from pretty much anything else.

Overall, I would agree. I would possibly throw Drew in as a good spot. He had a few decent moments in the chambers. Not fantastic, but passable.

It was a decent way to counter my usual boring insomnia filled nights. Some decent banter on the chat box too

Very poor on behalf of WWE. It could of been alot better.

Show as the 6th SD EC member, meh. Good save by Christan, adds a bit of spice to the world heavyweight championship.

Raw EC predictible, everyone was saying what was going to happen before it did.

I guess they are saving it all for Raw tonight.

If it wasnt for the chat box i would of given up at 2am and gone to bed.

I almost gave up after JoMo got eliminated. Would have been good to see him being in the last 2.

How would you have booked things differently last night?

I would have had christian been the 6th member of the chamber and screw Edge out of the championship. His justification? - He wants to face Del Rio and by having the belt, he will at Wrestlemania.

Much much better idea than having show in the chamber and then having a run in by Christian.

I wouldnt have had Barrett lose cleanly first - they effectively buried him into midcard.

True Kelly2 did get a bigger pop than Edge which says a lot for the current waste of title that is Edge (and I used to really rate Edge). I meant more from what was going on in the chatroom for her reaction though.
Drew nearly made it into my positives and should have done really, probably his best outing for a long time.

I'd have gone for Show to be the 6th entrant, the Corre run down and take him out, then Ziggler runs in and takes his place in the pod. It would've built the Barrett v Show feud, as well as the Edge v Ziggles fued, having Ziggler taking a leaf out of Edge's book with the ultimate opportunist. Still had the Christian ending, with maybe Ziggler escorted from the building by security.

The RAW EC ending was awful. Given all JoMo's offense and spots, he should've been left with Cena, as soon as it was Punk and Cena you knew the result, at least with JoMo we could've bought that maybe, just maybe the WWE pulled a swerve.

So predictable, there were no suprises exept Trish looking a bit ropey and botching everything in sight

still, live chat was good, Kelly got a good reaction in the room mainly cos everyone wanted to do her, hey she is smoking hot

Highlight of the night Dex falling asleep

K2 looked ridiculously good last night, she normally wouldn't be one of my favourites, it must be her new found ansty streak I like

I am a Cena fan but it felt like an anti-climax when he won, I think the WWE should have let it be Miz vs JoMo at WM and have a changing of the guards. With Cena vs Rock the PPV would sell big time so they could be more risky in their title matches.

Where does this leave the mid card for WM, assuming they keep the 2 title matches singles matches.
Punk vs Orton? Corre vs Nexus? What about Drew, Sheamus, Rey, JoMo, Ziggler (assuming he is back before WM) etc....

Feedback

Just finished watching what was one of the worst PPV's in quite some time.

What I really don't understand is what on earth do the guys like JoMo, Sheamus & Barrett to be taken serious in the E? Vince is making them look a laughing stock. John Cena has well & truly ruined the WWE. If he hadn't been in that Chamber, in all honestly who do you think would have won cause I wouldn't have had a clue and it would have made the match a lot more interesting.

Again, Big Show makes McIntyre and the rest look totally average by easily kicking out of every guys finisher.

There are so many good mid carders or guys that the WWE are pusing to be mid carders when they should be upper carders. Yet the Intercontinental & US title pictures are a complete joke!

Did anyone else think Kozlov looked impressive last night?

Performance of the night has to go to JoMo. He needs a PROPER World Title shot soon.
