Who is the most famous person on the honours board at your club?
First topic message reminder :
Can be a golfer or general celebrity....
Michael Lunt is the most famous at my club, not a household name but seems he was decent player in his day, before my time though...

Joined the year after the centenary so that makes it 2004 I believe.
I see, I played my first ever year as a golfer at Leatherhead many moons ago. Around 1990 I think.
How is the course? In good shape?
Yes, but I'd say any course in the South East that isn't in good shape after this summer wants to question the greenkeepers. Nice bit of rain again this morning. The greens haven't been great for the last few years but are good this year and the new back tees on the back nine that were done last year have held up very well.
I'd never say LH was up there with the top courses in Surrey but it's fun to play, very competitive, friendly and suits me down to the ground. Was bought by new owners at the beginning of the year and word is the subs are coming down!! next year so it's all good news really.

Hibbz, i recently played in our work golf day at Leatherheard and thought it was a really nice place. Even got talking to a couple of members in the bar who were walking around shoeless as they'd forgotten to bring anything but spikes! Seemed like nice enough chaps.
Starts you in nice and easy with the par 5 that's really just a good drive and a 7 iron in and then the par 3. All seems well until you get to that 4th. We had to play off the yellows so it was a par 4. 470 yards, all uphill, OOB on the right!!?! I hit my best drive and a really sweet 5 wood and still landed 30 yards short! Monster!
I liked it, nice course

That has to be the best pairing of all time!

Thought it was worth a punt though....
We are massively off a great topic here though, always find it hugely entertaining to check out the boards at any club I go to.

Again off topic but the snooker commentars are waiting with baited breath for the Foo King final in the world championship.

Rafuel Schite was never going to win over the Celtic fans although for some strange reason the other ugly sister was always talking about him.
I believe he plays in England now.

Scheidt, the brazillian was actually 5 yrs older than he was and went back to Brazil. He cost over £5m, celtic could buy a team for that now, how times have changed. If we signed Davie Weir instead of Rangers, out back three could have been
Weir Tebilly Scheidt
Bout summed up Celtic last night

A number of entertainers, celebrities have been members over the years ... but (IMO) the standout golfer/member at my club has been Jay Sigel. A top amateur in his day, and were he born a bit later would certainly not have waited until the Sr. tour to become a professional. I will also add he's a true gentleman.

Doon, given he was a member at Silloth (across the Solway Firth) he could well have been a member at Southerness as well.
Speaking of which, have you ever played Silloth? Wunderbar! Magnifique! Stoatin'!

Re: Who is the most famous person on the honours board at your club?
Aye sorry Gael I meant Silloth, I was down Southerness way a couple of weeks ago, not with the clubs though.
My daughter played in the British Womens at Silloth in the mid 1990's. She was thinking about turning pro and was using the Championship as a measure. She had a total nightmare start and burst into tears after about 5 holes. Decision made.
I have not played it but have been told it is a great course.
