New wedge?
http://www.titleist.co.uk/golf-clubs/wedges/vokey-spin-milled.aspx
Is this titleist wedge as good as all the independent reviews on golfing websites. Anyone use this wedge and have feed back on it? I may buy it if my cheeky little wager wins, as i am in the market for a new one.

Re: New wedge?
Basically yes. I bought three at the start of the season. 52 degree (no choice on bounce), 56 degree with highish bounce and 60 degree with maximum bounce.
I wish I had less bounce on the 60 degree. Great from bunkers, but not so good round the green.
The weight and feel is great and the spin / stop is amazing. Shews the pro Vs a lot which is a downside.
The tricky thing is selecting the correct degrees and bounce, but some good advise on titlient website.

Re: New wedge?
I have to say that I'm not a big Vokey fan. Have a 252-08 and a 256-10 which I persevered with but they never felt that solid to me which I hated. Picked up some Cleveland CG-12 DSGs (52°, 56° and 60°) for a steal off eBay and they're much better IMO.
Don't take it as gospel though; probably just me.

Raymond,
I know it's all a matter of taste but I had Ping G15 SW and PW and changed them for cleveland CG15 46* and 56*. I also bought 52* and 60* in the CG15 and they are collectively my favourite clubs. Give them a whirl and see what you think.

Cleveland Wedge fan here as well, i have the same as NBS except I have 52 and 58... I think s_r has them as well, never hear a bad word said about CG12s or 15s for that matter...

Re: New wedge?
I have the Vokeys in 52 degree and 60
I love them, particularly the 60. As Scottie says, i think the less bounce the better. My 60 has 6 degrees of bounce and in honesty i'd prefer that to be 4. I guess if you play somewhere particularly lush you might want to think about that though. I don't carry a sand wedge anymore as the 60 is excellent from bunkers.
The 52 i use from around 100 yards. I struggle to get spin on any shots but even i can stop the 52 pretty sharpish

Re: New wedge?
i bought some vokeys in october and they were so good someone helped themselves to one. i've got the 52.08, 56.11 [originally 56.14, but couldn't get like-for-like replacement after the first one wandered], and 60.07. The 60 degree is a luxury item, mostly used at my away links course, and will come out of the bag to make way for the 3wood on occasion. in hindsight i'd probably have gone for a 52.08 and 58.12 combo and just kept the 3 wood in the bag. they are really very nice clubs, though not as cheap as the cleveland cg15s which you can pick up for around £60 new now.

Re: New wedge?
Never been a Vokey fan myself, but is a personal preference.
I used Clevelands for over 10years and loved them. However at the start of this year a couple of the new Adams wedges caught my eye, tried them and fell in love literally, bought the 52 and 56. They are sublime, best wedges i've ever used they were pricey mind but fantastic

Re: New wedge?
recently won a vokey 60degree and decided to hell with it my Taylor Made RAC (which i loved) was due an upgrade purely on the grounds of worn grooves. both are 7degrees of bounce.
i think they are very very similar clubs- the one thing ive noticed though is the Vokey isnt as receptive in the sand and i have to alow for a little more run out.

Re: New wedge?
I have a pair of Cleveland 588's in 53 and 60 degrees, bought them on my first trip to the States in Feb 2001. Tried a few different replacements over the years as they are now very worn out. Tried Vokey's, CG15's, Ping Tour W to name a few.
Guess what....... the 588's are still in the bag today, quite simply nothing out there that works better for me.

nbs, something about them screams out 'nike'. not quite sure why, maybe its the 'idea' text font. nice lookin tools though. as for mav's pugs, they're also quite nice - bet they look even better in the flesh.

Re: New wedge?
The new R12 wedge from Mizuno looks nice
http://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/4140-launch-pics-mizuno-new-product-line/
Prefer the gun metal finish version myself.
When these are released you will be able to get the MP T11 wedge cheap as they are sold to make way for the new version.

Re: New wedge?
do these new wedges like the Mizuno R12 for example have the old style grooves or do they have the box grooves the professionals have to use?

Re: New wedge?
I play on a heathland course which SHOULD be hard and firm weather permitting so I like a low bounce wedge. MD golf ( my old faves lol) produce a nice looking range of low bounce wedges, I might need to find a demo club to try out somewhere.

I think the new ruling for pro's is V grooves, it's box grooves that have been banned as they are the ones that provide excessive spin.

Re: New wedge?
sorry yeah you're right i had it the wrong way around.
Any idea though if the new clubs in devopment for amateurs are actually a step back in terms of spin?
Im wondering if its worth replacing my 50 and 55 Taylor Made RAC wedges before its too late to get box grooves.

Re: New wedge?
Not 100% sure about this but I think you can still buy both old and new style grooves. Vokey do 2 ranges, is it CC and spin milled or something? One is legal the other isn't. Amateurs can carry on using the 'illegal' grooves until 2024 so no problem for you to buy old style wedges and use them for what is effectively their lifespan.

Re: New wedge?
I think Mizuno's wedges from MPT-11 onwards are all conforming grooves.

Re: New wedge?
i think all new ranges introduced in 2011 are conforming.
for vokeys: as d4s says, c-c groves are the new conforming ones. vokeys with out the c-c stamp are ok to use until 2024.
i bought the 'old' range in the anticipation that i'll likely be replacing them within the 12-13 year limit.

goldie
LJ had a bit of a falling out with the admin team, I saw him a couple of weeks ago when a few of us got together for a day out. I've tried talking him into coming back, the admin/mods have no objections if he goes about it in the right manner. I think he is taking a break for a while, hopefully he'll change his mind and make a return sooner rather than later.
I'm sure he still pops on here for a quick read every so often

That's a shame. I hope he does return, his knowledge of golf equipment is very good, that's why I was expecting to see a comment from him on this thread, he was due to get a Muira wedge fitting last time I saw him on here.

They look fantastic behind the ball and the results well think that smiley sums it up pretty well.
The MB2's are certainly in my eyeline, even tough I only got new sticks last year, I;ve been looking at these thinking maybe changing for my return in a couple of weeks, they look superb. Going to try them out mid/end september once i've been playing a while again.
They've come a long way from tight lies fairway woods a few years back. On the R11 driver thread someone mentions they have the fastline driver. The Speedline is something I would certainly have in my bag
