betting odds for the coming months
thought i would put up the odds for the upcoming fights over the next month or so, and anyone who thinks they spot a good deal pipe up and let me known.
robert helenius (1/16) vs siahei liakhovich (7/1)- draw 40/1
alexander povetkin (1/7) vs ruslan chagaev (4/1)- draw 33/1
vitali klitchsko (2/9) vs tomasz adamek (3/1)- draw 33/1
bernard hopkins (evens) vs chad dawson (4/5)- draw 20/1
andre ward (1/3) vs carl froch (9/4)- drawn 25/1
sergio martinez (1/33) vs darren barker (10/1)- draw 33/1
saul alvarez (1/12) vs alfonso gomez (6/1)- draw 33/1
miguel cotto (1/2) vs antonio margarito (6/4) draw 25/1
andre berto (1/7) vs jan zaveck (4/1)- draw 33/1
floyd mayweather jr (1/8) vs victor ortiz (9/2)- draw 28/1
manny pacquiao (1/10) vs juan manuel marquez (11/2)- draw 33/1
paul mccloskey (2/5) vs brendis prescott (7/4)- draw 33/1
daniel ponce de leon (5/1) vs yuriorkis gamboa (1/9)- draw 25/1
personally i think vitali, hopkins, froch are good odds. 10/1 is not bad for a punt on barker but not likely. JMM looks good odds on paper but think it just shows the bookies consider him past his best. dont think you would go very wrong with manny, floyd, klitchsko and gamboa in a accumaltor, although £25 would only win you £42, add martinez and alvarez and that goes to £46, add povetkin and helenius and that goes to £56.
stick £25 on froch, hopkins and vitali and that returns you a shade under £200, not bad at all. and for those of you who doubt the warrior, ward, hopkins and vitali returns you a shade over £80 from £25.
see anything you fancy?

Re: betting odds for the coming months
We've seen a flurry of draws in the various prediction competitions recently, there is almost certainly bound to be at least one amongst that lot.
A tenner on each draw will cost £130 and the least you can win will be £210.
You know it makes sense.

Ok, as you all know i'm king of the betting... so here's a guaranteed banker!
Cotto batters Margarito 1/2
Vitali beats Adamek 2/9
Alvarez laughs at Gomez 1/12
BHop loves lefties and beats Dawson EVS
FMJ beats Ortiz 1/8
Pac beats JMM 1/10
Stick £50 on that and you've got £245.78 to spend on whatever you please.
Thank me now.

Cotto wont beat Marg. Is he actually 1/2 just to win?

Re: betting odds for the coming months
i think we must have on average one a week, so if you say 1 in 5 is a draw then at least 2-3 should be draws. i do actually fancy chad dawson and bhop to end that way. is it beyond the realms of possibilty for manny marquez to end a draw again as well? probably

Scott, he doesn't just beat him he batters him. Marg is completely shot, Cotto not so much so but don't forget who he has in his corner now. Marg won't be able to touch him, which is more indicative of how bad Marg has been since his "comeback" then how much Cotto hasn't fallen by the wayside.
Trust me, Cotto wins.

Froch looks an OK shout at 9/4, although I think he will lose.

Oh and the other guarantee is that BHop wins, loves lefties and loves his right hand.
EVS is probably worth a nice lump being laid on that fight alone let alone doing an accumi.

He's had 2 fights. One off a long layoff at a new weight, and one against the best in the world where he looked about as good as he ever has apart from his opponent. Don't see any evidence for him being more shot than Cotto yet.coxy0001 wrote:Scottrf wrote:Cotto wont beat Marg. Is he actually 1/2 just to win?

Re: betting odds for the coming months
I don't see the point in adding Alvarez-Gomez for example. Would you really bet £230 or so to get £245 back, which is what you are effectively doing in that accumulator.

Because other "certainty" bets added up basically give you EVS or so... you then add a couple of closer fights in there and then you have a nice return on not much investment.
Imagine you had £50 and 8 guaranteed short odd fights and 2 close (like 1/2 or EVS) fights... Returned £250
Or 5 close fights... Returned £250...
Which is the risker one to go for?
Hopefully that makes sense as i'm rushing to get work done (For once)

I get it, I'm more of a fan of putting a larger amount on closer fights.
As 'sure fire' as certain results look, long accumulators never come in.

Only got 6 in mine, with the Cotto and BHop fights being the only ones i can see not coming in.
Excuse me whilst i drift away into a day dream of what i'll spend my £200 worth of profit on....
Holly Valance keeps popping into my head, am sure she would need the money

Re: betting odds for the coming months
its the 1/33 type odd that add nothing, personally i think your better off betting a treble, maybe have one fight that that could go either way and put more on, rather than relying on multiple results. somethings bound to go wrong somewhere

Re: betting odds for the coming months
It's all about value, ie where you think the bookmakers may have got it slightly wrong for a change.
Based on that, I don't think that Chagaev and Zaveck should be as wide as 4-1 to win their bouts, whether they ultimately do or not; Froch is second favourite, but not by that much, Prescott strikes me as a knocking bet at 7-4, and Hopkins at evens is also well worth an investment. Accumulators at boxing are asking for trouble, but I might not be able to resist a modest treble, comprising Prescott, Froch and Hopkins.

Not especially, the 4 "short" odds (in a 2 horse racing these are short)
Are:
1/12
2/9
1/8
1/10
Is roughly 3.3/1
Which isn't exactly bad in itself for Vitali/FMJ/Pac/Alvarez to win - is it? Throw in BHop and Cotto (who i think both win comfortably) and i've got enough to pay Holly Valance to bed me

Re: betting odds for the coming months
thats a decent bet, although i'd only risk cotto OR bhop, but for instance there would be no value in sticking martinez to be barker because it would add about £10 at most onto your winning.
also 2/9 is a great price for vitali, stick you months wages on that and you'll have a few hundred quid in ya pocket for nothing

Apologies, was looking at the singles bit on the willhill calculator (i don't do maths!)
Still, not bad as you're basically combining what should be guarantees with 2 close fights.

you could put a double on with vitali and dawson/bhop, £10 wins you £24 in a double with bhop and £22 with chad, so if your into full cover thats an option

Don't do cover bets, but i did to save my arris when i saw a proper video of Chisora pre Fury. Lost out but not as much i would've done if i'd stayed with Chisora before learning he was a fat boy.
Quite happy with my 6 picks to be honest, can't see where either of them go wrong..... I've already emailed Holly Valance's PR company to see if she's that desperate of cash and will utter those now immortal lines "never been with a guy that didn't want to **** me again the morning"
