Park Chu Young to join Arsenal
ARSENAL have snatched Chu-Young Park with an dramatic 11th-hour swoop.
The South Korea captain was on the brink of joining Lille from Monaco last night when Arsene Wenger table a surprise late bid.
Park, 26, had already completed a medical at the French champions — but went AWOL after Wenger came calling.
And he is now set to undergo tests at the Emirates before sealing his switch to North London.
Lille president Michel Seydoux said: "We haven't had a telephone call, nothing.
"From what we understand he could be at Arsenal.
"Like Monaco, Lille are baffled. Everything had been agreed."

The cynical view is obviously that they are trying to cash in on the Asian market by signing the captain of a big national side in that area, but obviously this should also strengthen their options up front, most likely a replacement for Bendtner.
He's completley unproven in this league though, and as we have seen with Chamakh, there is a good chance he won't be a big success, Arsenal clearly still weak, particuarly in the middle of the park as they have lost three players there with Fabregas, Nasri and Denilson.

I dont see this as the siging Arsenal or particularly their fans are looking for.
Though (if he signs) i'll hold judgement until he plays as i have never seen him play.

Although unproven in the PL at least he's an experienced enough footballer at 26 and not another 18 year old! I will reserve judgement on this fellow until he's had a decent run of games in the first team side, but the hopes about Chamakh's aerial ability fizzled to nothing fairly quickly last season and he barely gets played anymore! I'm just so tired of hearing commentators remarking on how wonderful it is for said arsenal players to have been playing in the lower divisions just a few months ago and now playing in the PL against teams like Man U! Hardly inspires confidence from the fans knowing its going to take another 3 years for half of our newest signings to really mature into a PL winning side.
