Should be dropped immediately from New Zealand's RWC squad and replaced by either a specialist left wing, either Gear of Siti; or specialist cover at 7.
Henry should tell him "A man's entitled to change his minds".
SBW has had no form for NZ since the one sided route against Scotland. He fails to use his physical presence effectively and has turned out to be a one trick pony.
Let's learn the lesson from coddling McAllistair and dump him now.

Definitely see where you're coming from. An unwelcome distraction and someone putting himself before the team.
The All Blacks aren't known as one of the world's best groups of individuals. GH should rightly be p*ssed off and give him a serve or two. Nonu is easily a more complete footballer in the 15 man game and can teach SBW a thing or two about running at the line. He looks as reluctant to hit the ball up as Quade Cooper at the moment (although for different reasons).

End of the day, it is his job. But as a Kiwi he should want to die to wear that black shirt. But hes always been a bit of a merc. I can only imagen that hes been approached by an SL/NRL team or a French RU team with a few 0's at the end.
Should he go to the WC? Is he the best player for NZ in his position? Nonu is better, i'd have taken Fruean as back up personally.

not sure what's wrong with his statement? he's been playing in NZ and earnt his right to wear the AB jersey. what he's up to after the RWC has nothing to do with not deserving to represent his country.

Re: Sonny Bill Williams
I kind of feel sorry for the man, he was brought into the fold with a big fanfare, and everyone believed he was the next best thing.
That is a lot to live up too.
It is clear to me that the effectiveness a player has in RL is not necessarily going to trnaslate to RU.
If the man wants to leave, let him go.

Does any of this come as a surprise? At least he's seeing his contract through for a change.

Re: Sonny Bill Williams
I wonder if this a case of sour grapes,he`s made the RWC squad, but not as a starter. He is trying to dictate terms to the NZRFU saying" i`m special,"then they quote Carter and McCaw getting special treatment.
BUT they have commited to the team for 3 years, and with the number caps earned they have earned that right.
Much as I agree NO player is bigger than the team ,in there case I may be wrong 88% win stats when they play together means a lot for ABs.
His agent comes across as another Don King and THAT is BAD,Don King was for Don King noone else.
IF he`s a disruption dump him and get someone else in there.

Re: Sonny Bill Williams
Why should what he does after the RWC have anything to do with his abilities to play in the RWC.
He as been awarded the right to wear the Abs shirt and i dont see this being a problem..
However if he does get the chop from the Abs for no fault of his own, then he might leave NZ as soon as possible.

I'm amazed it's taken this long for Money-Bill to try this kind of rubbish. I was actually starting to think he'd turned over a new leaf after dogging on his mates at the Bulldogs. You're right emack, Khoder Nasser is only interested in one person... Khoder Nasser!

It seems to me that if he wins the WC he might stay, otherwise he is out the gap!

Re: Sonny Bill Williams
I say it for two reasons. First, the SBW circus is a distraction. Secondly, as it turns out, he's not much of a 12 anyway.
We have a surplus of guys who can play in the centers, but lacking depth in other places. Notably the left wing, and now with Thompson out and Read in doubt we need to rethink the back row. I'd prefer to risk a return of Read at the business end and bring in someone to cover him at the expense of someone else.
On that basis I think SBW, Guildford or Mils are the most expendable. Mils brings experience and leadership, Guildford a high work rate and a smart brain for the game.
What does SBW bring? other than Koder Nasser and Ramadan?

So, SBW isn't re-writing the book on centre play after all?
Damn, I had it on pre-order. Hope it's not too late to cancel.

Re: Sonny Bill Williams
i kinda feel for SBW , his fall from grace was predictable really. Someone mentioned he'd dominate the first 5 rounds of Super Rugby till the other teams adjust and just start waiting for the offload , which they did and he became less and less effective as the season wore on .He can still produce one or two of those brilliant offloads in difficult situations but thats bout it whereas Ma'a Nonu will keep hammering at the line all game and sooner or later he'll start running through people as he gains momentum
Now Sbw should work hard at developing his game not busy trying to get the spotlight back to himself a week away from the world cup because thats excatly what makes him look very self centered

Its not Sonny Bill thats pushing this,it is the NZRFU that is pushing him to make a decision.
I really dont see any great damage being done to the NZRFU if they have to wait until after the cup to bring this matter to a conclusion.
One thing that the article doesn't mention is that the World Cup final is on 23 October, 5 days later (the 28th) the Blues and the Chiefs have to submit their 2012 S.15 squads. to the NZRFU.

Re: Sonny Bill Williams
I was looking at it from the angle that GH had already stated that he was giving preference in close calls to those who had decided to stay in NZ.
Within days SBW came out to say he was staying in NZ.
1 day after the squad was announced including him, he's changed his mind.

For all the hype, I just don't see how people expect him to get past Nonu?

Re: Sonny Bill Williams
Yep, Nonu was immense on the weekend. One of the only AB backs with a clue. His perfomance last week along with Smith's in the previous test shone like beacons in an otherwise lacklustre display.
I hope Henry sees sense and replaces Mils at full back for the big games. After a renaissance last year, he's just lost his impact.

You'd really want Israel Dagg ahead of Mils Muliaina?

Re: Sonny Bill Williams
Or Cory Jane. Mils has just looked 1 dimensional in attack. He's slow, I haven't seen him punt the ball with any conviction or accuracy. His decided lack of speed makes him a liability in defence and he missed a hat load of tackles against the Wallabies.
Experience is one thing, so it loyalty, but flogging a dead horse and expecting it to win the grand national is another.
