I've checked it and double checked it, but unbelievably it appears to be true.
And before posting this article I just had to triple-check it. And it's still valid.
This is not an outrageous ad for the IRB rankings sticky. Just a general dissemination of information.

I cant wait for the posturing from the Welsh Camp next week. How much do you wanna bet we're going to be hearing how the Boks are going to be skinned ,scalped and chucked aside by Gatlands men . I'm positively excited to read all the trash talk

Sorry lucky. Neutral territory, RWC x2 and the online calculator doesn't provide another result.
I couldn't believe it either.

Bullsbok, I'm hoping not to see any of that. Gatland should have learnt by now that that kind of talk serves only to motivate the opposition, and I doubt the reigning champions will need any extra motivation.
We should be quietly confident and leave it at that.

Re: If Wales beat South Africa on 11/9 they will overtake them in the IRB rankings.
I think you are right.... any potential swing during the RWC is doubled. Wales win <15points in a normal match with current rankings would cause an overall swing of 2.98 but given its a RWC match the swing is near 6 ranking points.
Crazy though.... ENG started this years 6N on 82.48.. they won 4, lost 1 but ended up on same ranking points come the end of the championship.

Gats has been unusually quiet during these warm-ups though.......
its making me nervous for the inevitable pre-game 'dig' at the opposition.

I can see it already.
Gatland, Henson, shane williams, Warburton, Welsh fans etc.
" We expect them to kick at us all day, we expect them to kick for territory, we expect them to come hard at us with their forwards, it will be direct in your face boring rugby"
Victor Matfield, John Smit and myeslf.
" Wales will be hyped up, they will go wide, they will attack with pace, but ultimately we will dominate up front, and win the battle of the breakdown. We won't underestimate them, but in the end we hope to pull through."
PDV
" Well, errrr, we didn't come here do to ballet, the winning team will be the victor (pardon the pun)"

Billtong, Gats has been too quiet for my liking, and he did tell us to judge him on the world cup....
... hence im expecting some absolute crackers from him when it comes to his 'pre-match wums', he's been meticulously planning them since he took over. This is where it gets serious for him, why do you think the welsh coaching team are always on those stupid laptops, thats right, scouring the internet for viable, cheap insults to put together the ultimate pre-match wums for this world cup.
Im expecting big, big things from Gats pre-game talks!

Spot on Biltong i for one smile with satisfaction whenever Morne Steyn puts boot to ball because it normally means the receiver will collect a face full of habana
and Gats silence is disconcerting i feel much more confident when he's talking coz if he's not then Wales are in the zone and concentrating entirely on the game which is bad... for Boks and Bok fans

I hope we can beat wales.
I think we can beat Wales.
Well we should beat Wales.
Nah, we'll definitely beat Wales.
Of course we'll beat Wales.
What do you mean beat Wales, we'll thump them.
Nah, it won't be a thumping, just a solid win.
Not so sure might be a close win.
Wow, might be a draw.
Or we could lose.
Maybe they'll thrash us.
Hell I am confused.

Carpe Diem, what about if you have a nightcap before going to bed? Would a drink in the morning count as 'carrying on from the night before' then?

She's thought of that, i have to be up all night drinking at a fairly consistent pace. She's an evil genius but i love her! She knows i'll be too afraid of nodding off and missing the game entirely.
I might be able to 'Irish' up my coffee if she isn't looking though!

I fail to see the hype if im honest and yes i know you're going to bring up the two tries vs the bokkie but both those tries were questionable but i wont take that from him he's a good player but he'd being hyped to be the great welsh hope a bit too prematurely which will stunt his growth (as a player not the mammoth human being he already is )

The title does say IF, Wales beat South Africa?
When was the last time Wales beat South Africa?......Just been looking at the rugby web site it says Wales last beat South Africa 11/12 years ago.
I know we always hear on their day Wales can beat any team, But in all honesty, when was the last time Wales was on their day?
I am not saying that Wales do not stand a chance of beating South Africa, but in this years RWC, No, i dont think they will.

We had a couple of great days the last two times we played in Cardiff. Won both.
SA are a good team but so are Wales at the moment.
Actually most of the teams are really close. Ten points separate the top 9 in the IRB rankings. Closest I can remember going into a RWC.

Record book says 3-0 in 1960,must have been a one off,Avril Malan`s touring side 1960-1.Lost only one match ,the last versus the Barbarians
not a festival match that year.
BOTH sides were trying to grind out a win,Baa-Baas did it.

Couple of good days in Cardiff? You beat an England team that had 60% of the posession and opted not to kick penalties in favour of set piece play. Yes, the Welsh defence was solid, however, when you play the big boys, they'll chew you up and spit you out with that kind of dominance. Argentina pumped you for 20 minutes, this was their first international match together this year, and it showed. Again, a team like SA with that much posession and domination will have you put away by half time.
Sa are a good team. Whether you care to admit it or not, Wales are not particularly. Results have flattered to deceive.
Wales could do it. But they wont. They don't have the nous or the strength to do it.

Re: If Wales beat South Africa on 11/9 they will overtake them in the IRB rankings.
Listen to the Great White turning the results to suit himself - How about this - England struggle to overcome a poor Scotland at Twickenham, a side destroyed by Wales at Murrayfield, they then get pummelled in Ireland in spite of all the confidence oozing out of them. They beat a rag bag of a welsh side by 4 points at Twickenham before losing by 10 points in Cardiff with their full strength side - this was a Wales side with a complete 2nd 3rd choice front row. Following this they beat Ireland by 11 points in what must have been the most inept performance by an Irish side in a decade, a side missing its talisman but would that have made any difference on the day with such a poor performance from the men in green. Wales stumble to defeat against a rusty Argentina side but the stumble is with plenty to spare.
Its funny how when England play badly and win it's that traditional good sign of a decent team who can win when playing poor - However when Wales win playing below par, it's luck and all what if's - Makes me laugh though. Let me tell you. IF you had gone for goal, we might have just strolled over for a few more trys. Why not just accept that you lost against a welsh side in 2nd gear with no front row - What does that say?

Suck it in Taf, we're talking about Wales beating SA, not the last 6N, which england won.... btw, is this the same rag bag Welsh side thats going to give the Bokka a run for their money? LOL. Priceless

Well I think we can do a lot better than you guys did when you played them at Twickers recently
By the way 2003 is a long time ago - You need to move up a little and look at your results over the past 5 years it might help with a sense of realism although I doubt it with those rose tinted glasses welded to your head. You concentrate on Argentina, your energy would be better analysing that game
