Roy Keane lands International role with.....
Iceland!
Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2033870/Roy-Keane-set-charge-Iceland.html#ixzz1X4TrMeEHRoy Keane is a leading contender to be the new manager of the Iceland national team.
The 40-year-old Manchester United and Republic of Ireland legend has been out of work since January when he was sacked by Ipswich after a disappointing 20 months in charge.
Despite winning promotion to the Premier League for Sunderland in his first management role he was able to win just 28 of his 81 games in charge of the Tractor Boys.
Keane is understood to have already held talks with the Icelandic Football Association and is set to watch Tuesday’s Euro 2012 qualifier against Cyprus in Reykjavik.
Another ex-United star, former Reading and Crystal Palace boss Steve Coppell, is also being linked with the job, along with ex-Sweden manager Lars Lagerback.
The Icelandic authorities are looking for a replacement for current boss Olafur Johannesson, who is due to leave next month after four years in the post.

He can't spell.
He thinks it's going to be like the prodigal son returning hime to a heroic reception.
"I thought this fecking place was called the Republic of Iceland".

Looks like a hiding to nowhere for him really. He needs to get back to club management and to build his reputation a little bit I think.
Did ok at Sunderland, inexplicably resigned and then had a rough time at Ipswich.
On the plus side, plenty of hot girls in Iceland.

I don't think he will ever make it as a manager, he did well at Sunderland but they did have a good squad which was probably a bit too good for the Championship and hasn't really recovered in terms of managing ability. These things nearly never work out, where a big name who has had a bad few years takes over an obscure or poor nation and tries to build his reputation back up.

Roy should stay away from there. At least I hope he does anyway.
