Jeff gets off easy
Jeff Hardy was sentenced today in a North Carolina courtroom to 10 days in jail, 30 months of probation and a $100,000 fine as part of a plea deal that will keep him out of prison. Hardy pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver a controlled substance and a single count of conspiracy to traffic in a substance containing opium, all felonies, pending from his September 11, 2009 arrest. The other counts against Hardy were dropped in return for the plea. Hardy has also agreed to remain in a drug abuse treatment program.
Hardy's lawyer requested that Jeff be allowed to travel outside of North Carolina to work for TNA. The request was granted.
Hardy also returns to TNA television tonight on Impact.

Now considering he was facing up to ten years this is probably the best he could have hoped for, thoughts?

10 years to 10 days. Glad to see the US system is a lenient with Celebs as the UK.
Surprised there was no rehab time. Hopefully this will be the scare he needed to get clean. 30 months probations gives him alot of time to mess it up.

Great result for Hardy, long time in coming, his team seemed confident he'd get away with it, he more or less has

If he can his best option would be to get back to the WWE where he's monitored so closely he very rarely got out of line

Yes! The Magical Mountain Bike of Sobriety has clearly paid off!
Good news for Jeff, in my view the most crucial part of the sentencing is his "remaining in a drug abuse programme". To be honest if Hardy was left to his own devices then the likelihood is that he'd fall off the wagon again at some point, history has shown us this in the past. Hopefully if he's in this programme it will do him some good and it's not just lip service on Hardy's part, although time will tell on that front.
If he can stay clean for a prolonged period, I'm sure WWE would take Jeff back, although the travel schedule might not appeal to him. I wonder if he's kicking himself for not taking the Shawn Michaels deal when it was offered to him back in 2009?
