The RWC needs a shock result!
I've really enjoyed the world cup, it's good to see that there haven't been any totally one sided games as yet and that the underdogs have competed really well so far. But I feel that this tournament really needs an upset. There's been many close calls with Argentina, Romania, Japan, Wales and USA all fighting hard but just falling short.
Do you think we will see any upsets in the next round of matches??
Samoa v Namibia
Tonga v Canada
Scotland v Georgia - Could Georgia push Scotland all the way?
Russia v USA
New Zealand v Japan
Argentina v Romania
South Africa v Fiji - SA were not convincing today, could Fiji beat them?
Australia v Ireland
Wales v Samoa - Will Wales suffer from a hangover over playing so well - but still losing - against SA?
England v Georgia
France v Canada
Italy v Russia

Alyn, I wouldn't say Wales beating Samoa at a World Cup is quite a shock.
NB Especially after the way Wales played today. I'm hoping for a shock and one that's not against England or the All Blacks (or if one then both, I don't want to go out in the QF [if we get there])

Could well happen, Wales could have and in many ways should have beaten the Boxs there is no reason why Fiji or Samoa cant beat them.

Re: The RWC needs a shock result!
I have to say this ongoing wishlist of fans wishing SA to lose to every team they meet is getting a little tiring and monotonous now.
Pick someone else to lose for a change, if it is not our kicking, then it is our game plan, or our aging players, or we were lucky, or the referee, or we are thugs etc. etc.
I get it, we aren't a popular team.
let it go.
It is more likely that Wales will lose to Fiji or Samoa.

Lol seeing as Wales just lost to an underpeforming Bok team doesnt that imply if the Boks looks to Samoa or Fiji ,Wales could be very much heading the same way????/

I was just saying it could happen not I think it will happen or I hope it will happen. No offence but I do hope you finish 2nd in your group but only so Ireland dont have to play them!

Re: The RWC needs a shock result!
to the saffer fans i was focussing more on the fact that SA are predicted to be the top team in the pool so if the Pi beat you that would be a bigger upset than wales losing to one (althought i really think wales are going somewhere, and hopefully not home)

Romania might be able to turn over Argentina, but other than that I can't see any top 10 team being beaten by a non-top 10 team in the next round of matches.

Biltong,
I do think its fair to say the Welsh are looking for the Boks to be turned over as they are the prime rivals in the pool. But, I don't think there ia any other prevailing sentiment about the Boks that isn't applied to other good teams. At least in my twisted circle of mates, that is.

If it was only the Welsh supporters I would accept it from wence it comes, but unfortunately that is not the case.
I suppose the boks will do the talking on the field irrespective of what popular opinion demands.

Try being a kiwi.
We are hopeless.
Have never won a game without cheating.
Have even cheated by getting a ref to be the bosses of refs so even the NH refs will cheat for us.

Italy could well shock Ireland. Ireland seem to be getting worse with each game.

You did against us once in the 90s didn't you?
I hope this isn't a "everyone hates us the most" competition. Will we be banned from entering for being English?

I would suggest currently SA is no 1. ( ue to their involvement with home unions in this tournament)
England and NZ can fight it out in the latter stages until matches against them become relevant.

Thought SA's win was a bit of a shock .If you look at the stats and the individual performances there should have been only one winner.Funny old game.

Stats and individual performances don't win games, scoring more points than the opposition does though.

Re: The RWC needs a shock result!
Enough of the upsets. The minnows have been playing with pride but also with application. How about a tournament where the top seeds go all the way to the final and we have a cracker 5 setter there and on the day the better team wins much like we have in store today for the US Open?
Now given previous RWCs that would be a shock! kia kaha

Believe me you´re not the only ones bro. Good on you though for getting tickets. My brother is travelling over from Brisvegas for the semis and I´m very jealous. Bit easier for him though than me from Madrid.

Re: The RWC needs a shock result!
Well I wouldn't say the aussie team is hated, mainly cause we seldom win anything of note lately ~(until this WC that is), but for some reason our nice boys are often accused of being arrogant when we do win. And that's not just rugby, in league, cricket and soccer, whenever our nice ole friendly outback boys pulls off some win or the other, we get accused.
And when we get beaten, which is sometimes often, the victors then claim a victory over us as if it was hard work, pah!!
I have no idea why..... all aussies are really nice friendly sorts.. and fair as to boot!

Not only the result, but hit the switch and turn on one hell of a performance.
Well here's to hoping anyway.

As time has gone by, I've become more and more convinced the England win against you in Aus last year was a one-off. I'll be surprised (and delighted!) if we can do it again - assuming we both actually get there (Semi final I think it would be).
Be a heck of a game if we do meet. Can't wait!
