Wow yet another dullfest, these guys need a 2nd tier world cup to improve their game play, maybe with the top four going into the real World Cup.

Well, its over.
But look at the celebrations. Look at what the match means toi both teams, the winners and the losers. This is one of the things which makes a great RWC.

Will Clever be cited for a late strike with the shoulder? Way after the ball had gone, no arms, terrible.

Re: USA V Russia thread
that was brilliant. USA look well organised and Russia counter attacke really well. Considering the short amount of time Russia have been playing they are very competative. They'll be extremely disappointed to have lost that. Well impressed with their fitness levels

Re: USA V Russia thread
I think people haven't understood what I'm saying, for these teams to develop and grow they need proper competition more often maybe a round robin competition a year before the main event with the top 4 teams from that going into one of two groups into the RWC.
This would give these guys some real competition and a decent prize at the end of it, the RWC needs to be a showcase event.
These teams aren't good enough, Yet!
NL1 standard at best, thats not good enough for a RWC.

Anything from Russia that might worry Ireland or Italy?
Good to see the USA get a win. They really put their bodies on theline against us and that was a tough 4 day turn around.

Hersh the RWC is a showcase event. You make us English look bad with your numerous foolish narrow minded comments.
The best sides will qualify for the quarter finals anyway.
It is not a foregone conclusion England will qualify yet.
Wales have their hands full enough in their group.
Italy might shock Ireland.
France cannot be complacent against Canada and Tonga.

I haven't checked, but I bet you the USA beat more defenders and had more offloads and clean breaks than england vs Argentina.

If anyone cant see the benefits of having teams like the USA and Russia in a World cup competition then they are not looking at it from the interests of rugby.

True and if England, Ireland and Scotland played the game with the same commitment, skill and passion that Japan, Canada, the USA, Russia, Georgia, Romania, Samoa etc. do then it would be a feckin better spectacle for all of us.

Yeah I agree - the 1st half was better but things slowed down towards the end of the match... with more errors from both sides. Still, good to see these two nations get stuck into one another. I enjoyed that match as much, if not slightly more, than the Scotland-Georgia and Argentina-England ones.

Re: USA V Russia thread
you're the one that needs to be re-formatted hersh.
How about you grab a slice of STFU pie and let the forums users following this game talk about this game on this thread and yo can sprout your broken record, badly timed and worded fart pieces elsewhere eh
stop spoiling other peoples enjoyment.
Back on topic:
really annoyed I missed this one, sounds like it was an entertaining match to watch

Some of you need to take off your rose tinted RWC glasses and see that game for what it was, 3rd /4th rate, if that was a Rabo12 or a JEFF game people would be mocking it.

Debate all you like folks but remember argue against the point, not the poster. No personal insults please.
Gutted Russia lost, had them to win by 5. Think they're a really exciting team to watch, looking forward to how they progress in the future. Giving them exposure to this level of rugby is exactly what is needed to help the game grow, and long may it continue

There was heavy rain at half time too so it didn't help the handling in the 2nd half. On a dry day I think the USA might have crossed the line a few more times, maybe Russia would have got a try too.

I'm actually surprised people backed Russia over the USA, but then I had the benefit of seeing them in a warmup game. I'd have backed USA if I were on that WC sportguru (probably by a margin of 7 too )
